New Grower 180 w mars hydro ufo for 1st grow

Had a chance to get a mars hydro 300 on cl for 80 bucks . but I ordered a 180 watt ufo style thanks to pop 22 advice the grow box is 2.5 x 2.5 by 4 feet tall. Can I use this light from beginning to end ? the seed is nirvana auto northern lights . and should i run it 20 on 4 off for entire grow

IMHO, if you can. I would go with the 300 watt marshydro panel for that square footage. You can buy a new original model for $100. Karma, karma, karma, my friend.

Actually took your advice and cancelled order and am picking up the 300 tomorrow the guy on cl agreed to 70 bucks the light was never used. I guess you can never have too much light

thanks 1guy1plant. Like i said its one plant first time trying!!!! The guy selling the light says its optimal for that size box. Hes an experienced grower. But from talking on phone w him he says to leave it on 24/7 that confuses me cause i thought the 20/4 was the norm. Groing in soil and he says this light is all i need to go from beginning to finish . Sound right?

I am running mine at 20/4 for the entire grow. I hang the light about 24 inches over top of plants. If I just had one plant I would probably go closer to 18 inches I am thinking on my next grow that I might try 18/6. From what I have read there is not much difference so why not let lights rest a little longer each day. As far as 24/0 I have read that even autoflowers need to rest a few hours a day. Also, remember I am a newbie too but it sounds like you are on the right track.

Good choice Rover, I too think you will be happy and you are defintely doing the right thing by just starting with 1 plant, in my opinion it is the best way to start growing. You focus all of your time, energy,light,nutes etc. etc. on just one plant so it in a sense get all the love! I am one of the folks that runs mine 24/0 just because I think photosynthisis occuring all the time is a good thing(that is just me though) there is more than one way to skin a cat as they say, and i have seen monster grows with 18/6,20/4, and 24/0 so it is just one variable in a very long list.
