Growlab 80 tent
300w LED GN MS006 ( 60cm from plant)
Exhaust fan (also work as passive intake)
2 Circulation fans

Strain: CBD crew SHARK

Seed in rootriot cube for a week until it sprouted then placed in 1L air-pot. where it has been vegging for 2 weeks. (total time 3 weeks)

Soil : Plagron Royalmix

Water: tapwater (EC 0.17 /PH 7.8) aired for at least 48 hours. Watered every day, tried backing of and watering every second day. Even tried holding off for 3 days at one time. Usually water until i see runoff at the bottom plate.

Nutes : No nutes added according to info from Plagron regarding the soil in use.

Temps : day 25-28C night : 21-23C
Humidity: 42%
Lights on/off 18/6

My problem is that 2 weeks after having sprouted and transplanted into soil the plant isn't getting any taller, looks frail and drooping get gradually worse every day. Have I overwatered, or is soil too hot? Will I have to start all over again?

Any feedback would be most welcome. Pictures attached below for your evaluation.

Hi Greenshine

Are you watering the plant with 7.8 ph? If so, there's your problem.
They don't like it like that :)

If you can get some PH down and a digital ph tester, you should try to keep your soil at a ph of around 6.2-6.5. Watering at 7.8 would have changed your soil PH quite a bit so we need to find a way to get it back into range.

You'll need a good ph tester and some PH down for this.

Hope this helps

Possible troubles:

-overwatering. If you water young plant every second day, water just accumulates. Airpots help against overwatering, but this plants have not reached edges of the pot with roots yet.

- very dry for young plants outside the soil. In this very moment I have similar temps as you, but RH around 55% and is still too low. I moist them, they go well, but could be better if more humid.

- too high PH. Your water is too alkaline, you should correct that if you want decent grows in the future.

There is nothing wrong with Plagron GM, it is wonderfull stuff, it is not too hot, it is very modestly fertilized, you soon see N defs if you do not start to feed early enough.

Good Luck.

And I would go with new grow immediatelly.

Hello and thank you for your reply!

I pretty much guessed so. I did hydro growth last summer and had complete control of my ph. This Summer I went organic instead. I read on Plagron's information page about their Royalmix soil that you only need water for the first 6 weeks. So I started thinking about PH and the Plagron website claims I don't have to adjust PH when using this type of soil.
Anyways I ordered some ph adjuster that will arrive next week. And I will continue on with perfectly adjusted water in the future. Already have Digital PH meter from last years hydro growth.

Thank you very much for your help. I have been suspecting overwatering, low humidity and/or high PH , so your answers confirms my worries. However I don't use the GrowMix, if that is what you mean by Plagron GM? I am using Plagron Royal mix, previously called Royalty-mix.

Hey GreenShine, I only water my young seedlings every 5-6 days. I also only give them 500mls for the first 2 weeks at least. You dont need any runoff at all if you are just using water. I am growing in 24litre pots, so if your pots are smaller you will need to give them even less. Make sure they dry right out, its scary how dry they can get and survive. Just my two cents :Sharing One:

Your soil could also be factoring in. Plagron Royalty mix is what is considered a "hot" mix in that it contains a high amount of nutrients in the form of worm castings, guano and bone meal. While this is good for larger plants, auto seedlings don't like hot mixes. Plagron also states that the pH of this mix is in the 5.9 - 6.2 range right out of the bag. While 6.2 is okay, if you have a bag that is 5.9 that's too low and could also be contributing.

True that you have to give them less for smaller pot, but on the other hand you have to water them more frequently as they dry out quicker. Also, Im using an 1L air-pot that dry out even quicker than a regular one. I guess I need to get used to this handwatering business as my only experience is with lasts years hydrogrowth that had automated dripper ring system.

Yup, Im well aware of it but asked around and got the answer that they might yellow a bit from it but would eventually recover and be fine as they grow larger. Anyways, I gonna correct my waters PH value and also ease down on on the watering bonanza a bit and up the humidity in my grow space a bit. Cross my fingers and hope the seedling will recover from its "Benjamin Button" state.

Would it be really bad to add a tiny bit of root stimulator to the watering like Superthrive or superdrive into my organic soil ?
