Hi there, I wonder if I'd be able to get some advice?

I'm running the Bio Canna line on my current grow. However, I've noticed that it seems to fall short of the needs of the plant in a few areas. The line seems lower in Nitrogen than what is required, even when used with their soil.

I'm gradually working towards a TLO setup, but am hoping to run a kind of hybrid of soup and soil nutrition whilst I'm learning, so I need some help with the amendments I've been advised to use.

Here's what I've got to work with soil-wise.

Bio Terra Plus Soil
Worm Castings
Alfalfa Pellets
Kelp Meal
Perlite

I've heard that adding the EWC, KM and AP will help with the shortfall of N, as well as providing a whole other host of benefits for the plant and micro-herd. I'm just totally stumped on how to mix it all up.

I usually go for 70% soil, 30% perlite.

With this I'm thinking

50% soil
20% EWC
30% perlite

As understand it, I don't need much of the alfalfa or kelp, but how much should I add into this mix? Is there a rule of thumb I can follow? I'm pretty nervous about burning the plants.

Any help would be really appreciated.

hey man,if you could get me a link for the soil specific please.. Imma be back in a little while but i'll be happy to look at the soil and think on it for a minute but a simple rule for autos.photos 1.5 Times more generally speaking, but autos for a 1.5CF bag which roughly 10 gallon of soil depending how ya pack it yet 3/4 cup to 1 cup of those types of mellower materials works well. ya might wanna invest in some lime as well, sweet and..or pellet garden lime is fine.both is best imho but either works and casting without a hard inoculate(unless the EWC if right from the bin) I would use right around 20 LBs( 3 gallons of so i think maybe a touch more) 25% right abouts.and also some coco and/or a few gallons of decent used soil. maybe a gallon or so just add for texture as well as the perlite. then Id call it a day with those componts. IF the bag is a standard proprietary mellow type of mix which I believe it is if i recall.but that should help you get started. hope that helps.

10 gallons soil

3-4 gallons EWC

1-2 gallons of coco and/or used soil

and add used soil ,coco and perlite to texture.

perlite will prolly be around 3 gallons at most I would think so start small and mix until the right texture is achieved.squeeze test and voila ! :D

I use one cup kelp one cup alfalfa to 32 quarts of mix. The sooner you add it the better.

Thank you for your replies. I've got something to work with now, so that's cool.

@Eyes on Fire. Here is a link to the soil's page. http://www.canna-uk.com/bio-terra-plus

I've found Canna to be rather lacking when it comes to disclosing exactly what's in their products (online anyway) but there's some more detailed info on the bag. I've attached a shot of that for you to have a look at. Thanks for your help!

yeah ,I could not see much in the pic or online with specifics. but just keep it simple and especially if your using any of those liquid feeding things, but as long as it breaths decent and passes the squeeze test at those lighter level of additives ,imo your gonna be just fine. Id look into brewing some teas and the like. Good luck with your future gardening.
