This is my first real grow but 3rd actual attempt. First attempt was an auto outdoor, failed miserably for I'm sure, many many reason that were all my fault. Second attempt was a space bucket that did ok but the plant just out grew my setup very quickly and I only ended up getting about .8 oz so not great but not horrible.

Now here I am with a with a 4ft x 4ft tent with 4 plants, intake fan, exhaust fan with carbon filter, oscillating fan and what this thread is actually about.... a very very cheap and nasty LED from eBay. Yes I know they are crap but I was hoping it would be enough to get me started but now I'm on day 17 of this grow and I'm worried its not going to be enough for even a basic yield. To be honest if I got 1oz per plant I would be extremely happy.

The current light claims to be 1200w (yes I know thats a ridiculous claim and reality it is no where near that)

So now to the actual question...

Should I upgrade and if so what to?

What is a decent LED for around $300 or less that I can actually purchase in Australia that will be enough for a decent but not amazing yield. I know I "should" buy a $9000 light because they are awesome and worth it but for me I just can't justify the cost and I have to stick with LED as I'm already battling heat stress issues with our 40+ degree days at the moment.

Or is my price range so low I should just keep the 1200w's of Burple fury and wait until I can justify something more pricey?

I'm also open to some mild DYI options as long as its not too technical or expensive.

At the end of the day I just want to get one decent grow under my belt so I'm confident enough to go blow some real money on decent gear knowing I can make it back in yield.

Thanks to anyone that can offer up some advice

Hey buddy fellow aussie here I'm only a sun worshiper though:bow:.@puggle6 @hecno @Teetee any of you guys able to give any input I don't know anything about lighting

Thanks guys,

I just had a look at cutter and I have no idea what I’m looking at so hopefully someone can steer me in the right direction.

Hey @Robnstuff I feel your pain Bro, these temps are a killer for growing weed. Then once you get it down, it's the wet season and humidity is too bloody high to dry the gear!

I've been using LEDs for years now, and have to say that the units sold by LED Hydroponics are top notch. Yeah they are made in China but these are good ones, Cree LEDs, top quality components.

They have a section on the forum here on AFN...https://www.autoflower.org/forums/led-hydroponic-ltd.505/

Have a word with @muddy-ledhydroponic and tell him Teetee sent you, he might do you a deal.

I don't know what price range is but the new lights from @MarshydroTina are looking to be pretty good and are on sale. 2 sp150s would be the cheapest to give you some badarse lighting.

Mars Hydro are a good starter kit , but you will move on from them . Cutter light kits are great , your yield will increase , the life of the diodes will last a hell of a lot longer , if you go down this path look to the Cree 3590 chips , good all around growing spectrum . also very easy to set up with basic tools you can do it yourself . best plant to date was just over 8 1/2 oz dry . @Teetee I have to have a dehumidifier for the same reason . By the way I run 9 cobs in a 1,2 x 1.3 room .

Did you see the new sp series? My cob from them uses the 3590 cree.

If you like white light, Mars SP series is a good choice for you, if you like red and blue light, I recommend you Mars Reflector series, the price is cheap and quality is good, I think this series is the most cost-effective in our products. you can see more details from here: www.mars-hydro.com
