Hey Guys and Gals :)
It has just come to my attention that it is possible to grow photoperiods from seed on 12/12.
I'm growing autoflowers as I have limited space and don't want to have t change light schedules so I can have a constant rotation of deliciousness.
My question is, has anyone here tried growing the same strain autoflower alongside 12/12 photoperiod and if so what were the results?
I've had a gander online but there's so many haters of autoflowers that I can't really find a none biased answer.
Look forward to your replies :)
Peace.

A 12/12 from seed photo generally takes longer than an auto flower by a couple weeks and aren't any bigger. Most photos take 4-5 weeks before they are mature enough to flower so those weeks might as well be spent getting more light ... I like the race to the finish that autos provide ... if for stealth reasons I could only use lights for 12/12 then photos it is ...

I hear ya. Cheers mush :) Defo prefer the faster turnover with autos.

How's your maths? I'm wondering what the difference would be in light on time from start t finish f both.
Would the light be on longer f autos, photos or would it be even? (After the whole grow).
I'd work it out myself but I've had a few smokes n I've forgotten how to maths :-p lol.

Basically which would my leccy bill be cheaper with? Seems I've also forgotten how to word... And sense, lol.

12/12 from seed will be the chepest of the two. If you dont go 100% sativa from africa or so, then you will have to flower them forever, but most hybrids will be less lights with 12/12 from seed then a AF grow. Dont saying they will yield more, just that you will use less light.

So a big room with lights on 12/12 with both photos and autos and your good mate :)

AF grow @ 18 hours for 11 weeks is = 1386 hours of light

PP grow @ 12 hours for 16 weeks is = 1344 hours of light

and most photos will finish well within that time...

What a man! :-D Was trying to work it out myself and was going the completely wrong way about it... You've saved me a lot of brain ache! Lol. Not too much of a difference in the leccy bill then :) good t know.
Guess if the yield is pretty much the same tis better t stick with the autos and have a faster turnover..... Also I wouldn't have the fabulously brilliant AFN community on hand if I went with photos.
My decision has been made....... Autos all day!!! :-D
Cheers mush :) Peace.

I love autos for being fast buth i like to veg regulars a bit longer to get a more massive plant.
I think its just preference, got a few autos and regulars under my belt now and tbh dosnt matter what i grow cous i will love em annyway ^^
And the auto strains are geting better and better rapidly :)

I'd never heard of autos either until I was researching for my own grow. They're perfect for me because I have limited space so can just chuck one in whenever I fancy so I've got a constant rotation :)
Nothing more satisfying than waking up every morning t check on my girls and seeing how much they've developed.... Except smoking em probably but I haven't quite made it that far yet.
I'm almost on week 4 with my current twins and they're bloomin lovely. They grow up so fast!! Lol :)

I like autos for their quicker harvests and the fact that a dark period isn't such a big deal to them ... my last photo grow was a pain in the ass trying to be certain that no light entered the space after lights out ... w/ autos I never worry about light except to try to give them as much as they can handle ... having the option of photos or autos is golden !!

Of course!! Never even thought about that. Seems autos get more magical everyday :) <3 Them!!

If you dont have any other choice then go for it, Ive grown a few different strains 12/12 from seed. They finish under a foot tall, And the yeild is typically 1/8 to a 1/4 ounce if lucky. The best thing is that you can cram a lot of them inside a small stealth cfl cab. You can finish them in red solo cups like I did. But for the time spent I would grow some automatics in 1.5 gal bags. That will give you the best yeild and wont take up to much space and allow you to grow several plants at a time. I would do It if I had a shit load of bag seed, But for some good breeders strains I woulnt waste my time.
