New Grower Autoflowering @ F1 on photo/auto cross

Nope mendel's laws still apply. Unless heavily inbred, polyhybrids will be heterozygous for most traits. Heterozygosity means vigor. In healthy populations, Heterozygous traits FAR outnumber recessive traits. Accumulation of recessive traits is mostly bad, with the exception in our case of traits related to potency and flavors.

Now, heterozygosity means that the plant can pass on one of two alleles and therefore is not true breeding. BUT, at the same time, most of the flavors we find in inbred lines of cannabis are recessive. This means that, in a polyhybrid cross, any selection based on flavor would quickly cause a homozygous recessive, and after one or two generations of inbreeding for flavors the offspring would be true breeding for that flavor.

Therefore, polyhybrids can or cannot be true breeding, based on how far inbred they are. So, if your polyhybrid has been inbred to stabilize certain traits such as flavor, those traits will be true breeding, even though other traits show variation such as plant structure or bud density.

For example, If a plant is crossed with diesel, and diesel flavor is selected for by inbreeding, even though the inbred generations of plants are a polyhybrid, they could still be true breeding for a recessive trait such as diesel flavor.

fucking fantastic! thanks dude :D you got a way of explaining that makes what your saying easy to understand. you would make a good teacher

The exclusive occurrence of Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinolic acid synthase in the Purple Kush transcriptome, and its replacement by cannabidiolic acid synthase in 'Finola', may explain why the psychoactive cannabinoid Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is produced in marijuana but not in hemp... thanks Stanko. This is an interesting piece of research. Here's another..

I have a few good seeds from my accidental cross of Pineapple Express (photo/female) and Duurtie Dragon (auto/male). I just started curing a few.

Whats the best way to dry/cure/store fresh seeds?

Here's my very first Auto Fem show @ Day 25 from F1's of Landrace Afghan Kush Photo Mother/Auto Assassin Father.

I feel I've finally earned that Developer Badge I have! If you want to follow her and her siblings you can find us in my WVR's Photo Grow thread...

EDIT: Can someone please drop me a link to the results thread so I can move this there. I just realized there's a separate thread for results/pictures.

And since this is now a discussion thread let me please add my 2 cents...

I chose the Landrace Afghan Kush (at the time it was a Mystery Kush to me) because it was the most potent strain I had ever smoked in my life! (and I have smoke many a strain). Found it had amazing med properties I needed. It was an accident really (or was it? LOL) that I chose the Auto Assassin Male to polly her with. I am a huge fan of AA. I think it's one of Stitch's best really. Only to find out later on that the AA has AK-47 in it. I'm assuming Afghan Kush no? I mean I know it's a gun but is AK-47 a play on words?

Well my point is when I researched the Landrace Affy Kush and confirmed it was in fact my Mystery Kush, it said 45-55 days flowering time. That is a tremendously fast finish for a photo. I know you can veg photos for as long as you want but I usually do mine 4 weeks on the nosey and then off to 12/12. The Mother finished in 2.5 months total. Could it be also, if you chose a Photo with a short flowering time (45-60 days or so) that you could also work it Auto faster; in the earlier generations?

Which would also support Wiz's theory with using similar genetics with the Photo/Auto cross, hence working it Auto faster... If you started off with short flowering time on both parents, similar genetics... You in turn will get offspring that takes over and becomes dominant faster?

I am no expert, in fact as a breeder I'm going into this completely "blind". I have done minimal research. I'm just confident that I can get an incredibly strong med quicker as an Auto. And because I want killer smoke for me and my Wife while breeding! LOL It's just my simple way of thinking... My theory up there! ^^^^

:smokebuds: and I have a feeling there is more autos that will show from that group in the next few days. We'll see!

You probably won't see Autos in the F1's. You might not see them until f4 or f5. :2cents:

With a Photo x Auto cross you can see up to 25% that will Auto in F1. Maybe at 25 days and not 17 like some, but still. Only keep the ones that Auto and cross them. If you cross and Auto x Auto, you'll get an Auto. :D
