Hi everybody. I have two DP Automazars going in 3 gallon buckets which began germination on May 30th.
I'm using Pro-Mix Premium Organic Vegetable and Herb Mix, an OMRI listed soilless mixture that contains the following:
  • Canadian sphagnum peat moss
  • Peat humus
  • Compost
  • Perlite
  • Gypsum
  • Limestone
  • Organic fertilizer
  • GHA297 (Mycorrhizae Glomus Intraradices)
I have been applying ~1mL of Floratonic Super Root Stimulator with watering after the first week. I also have Floratonic Monster Nodes and Magic Bloom but I'm not too sure when I should begin using them with an auto.

I've been decreasing the pH of my water (7-8 out of the tap, I'm using litmus paper to measure) with distilled white vinegar (bringing pH down to about 6) but because of an ongoing fungus gnat issue I'm going to invest in pH down for the future (they like vinegar!).

I'm using a Mars Hydro Reflector 96, and have my garden in a 2x3 area. I also have CFLs (4 x 45 watt 5500k) which I may supplement later in the grow if additional light or coverage area is required. I have been running them on the Gas Lantern Routine (12 hours light on, 5.5 hours off, 1 hour on, 5.5 hours off) but have just switched to 12/12 on Monday since I want to begin flowering my photoperiod chocolate chunks.

Temps last month got high at times (80-88°F) but I've been able to keep them down to 70-75°F lately. I don't have a measure of relative humidity unfortunately, as I'm running on a budget, but thus far things seem to be moving smoothly (at least to my knowledge).

I've been monitoring the progress of my plant with DPs awesome Automazar timelapse on YouTube and feel like I'm keeping up well enough so I'm happy. I'll put the link in at the bottom.
I'm a new indoor grower, so still very much learning the ways, and any input is welcome.
My pictures are on my mobile, so I will post those shortly. Thanks for checking in! :smoking:

Here they are at day 13. The two larger plants are my choco chunks.

And day 30. They are in the back, getting bigger by the day now. As you can see, one is bigger and getting bushier than the other. :smoking:

And here are some pics I just took, day 33. The smaller one is showing some pistils on the tip. The larger one is showing spots on the upper leaves that I'm going to try to diagnose and manage.

run them 24/0 germ to harvest. If outdoor growers could they would run the sun 24/0 on their autos. BTW mazzar is a great indica. If your soil is fertilized no need to add nutes. If you do, go easy, I have messed up a few autos dumping crap on them.

I've heard different perspectives and outcomes about light schedules, so I'm willing to try the money-saving schedules first to see if I'm happy with the results. If I feel like I can do better with more light in the future I will definitely go for it, but I need to consider the costs of running them for longer, not just in terms of electricity used but working life of the lights. Thanks for the input though, I added nutes in much smaller concentrations than was suggested, and I don't see any indications of nutrient burn. Turns out the marks on the leaves were sunburn from giving them a nice foliar spray.

that's cool. yeah that's where the whole 18/6 thing came from, trying to save electricity. We got a notice that the electric company was monitoring "unusual" activity. And most found 18/6 really didn't set the plant back that much. But those were vegging plants. Some say shorter light makes plants shorter. IDK. I think more light makes them shorter. Where are those myth busters?

Quick update: day 38. You can see the differences in size, with the larger one being the further one. The smaller one is developing pistils much more readily, that I showed in the second pic. Smaller one is also showing slight deficiencies, but it may be due to my ongoing fungus gnat problem or pH. I'll try to fix it up and get her back to tip top shape.
