Hey all! I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.

I’m back with a new Grow where I’m doing a Sweet Nurse CBD Auto and an Ice Cool Auto. The Sweet nurse I’ve done once before and it may be my favourite smelling/tasting strain I’ve grown so far. The Ice Cool is a new one for me so I’m interested to see how it turns out. I have just finished a couple strains from Mephisto Genetics which turned out good but the Sweet Seeds were calling my name. Thanks again to Sweet Seeds for their freebies they sent a little while back. Also for the Photo contests they use to hold. I picked up some packs from that and am working my way through them. Maybe at some point they will start up some more contests for people to try out their strains.

My grows mostly produce well enough but I feel like I’m always combating deficiencies or slow/stunted growth. There is definitely room for improvement but I think I’m getting into a good rhythm for the seedling/early veg stage. I just need to work on the later veg-flowering as that’s really where things tend to go downhill with lockout or deficiencies.
There are a few things that I’m trying out on this run that I haven’t done before. I have a variety of lights that I’ve been playing with and this time I’m going to go with my QB288 from HLG. I’ve used this before, but usually later on for flowering because of the higher wattage, colour profile, and it’s a lower profile light and gives me more height. This time I’m going to start it dialed down to 60w, use height to change the intensity, and then turn it up when we get into flowering.
Another thing I’m changing up a bit is my feeding regiment. Mega Crop I’m starting at 0.5g/gal for week 1, 1g/gal for week 2, and then add 1g/gal each week until 4 g/gal unless the plant tells me differently. I’m not going to be feeding every watering as I did last time. This time I think I’m going to try feeding Megacrop (+Bud Explosion when needed) alternating with watering with the Sweet Candy and Sea-k (Sea-K is a new addition for this grow). I’m also going to be foliar feeding occasionally through the veg period with a weak Sea-k solution.

Should be interesting to see if any of these changes make a difference, anywho…Here are my grow details

Space: 2’x3’ (4.5' height) tent
Veg/Flower Lights: 2x 6500K CFL bulbs for first week in space bucket, 135W HLG QB288, turned down to 60w in tent
Strain: 1x Sweet Nurse CBD Auto, 1x Ice Cool Auto
Grow Medium: Pro-mix HP, extra 1TBSP dolomitic lime in each pot
Nutrients: Megacrop, Sweet Candy, Bud Explosion, Sea-K Kelp Extract, CaliMagic if needed
Pot Size: 2 gallon fabric pots
Ventilation: 4” Variable speed 190CFM inline exhaust fan with Carbon Filter, passive intake, 6” fan and a few 120mm pc fans inside tent
Environment: Approx 26C/60%
Water Source: My tap water comes from the lake I live near, which is then put through a charcoal and UV filter. This runs at about 7pH (fluctuates a bit depending on time of year) and 60-70ppm. I have an Apera PH60 meter and a cheap ppm meter to keep tabs on things

Both seeds soaked in a coffee cup for 24 hours with water and a dash of hydrogen peroxide, with the cups sitting on the router for warmth. Afterwards, they were planted into “easy transplant” solo cups where I’ve cut holes on the inner cup and have an outer cup with drainage holes to keep the soil in. The Pro-mix HP was presoaked with 0.5g/gal MegaCrop and Sweet candy.

It wasn’t long before they popped their little heads above surface. (Left - Sweet Nurse, Right - Ice Cool)

Day 4 ~120mL each around edge of cup

Day 8 - Transplanted, roots pretty healthy and developed, a bit curled at the bottom of cup. Hopefully didn’t disturb it too much

Hello again. Back with a chunk of updates. I've been keeping it pretty slow and steady through the grow, really doing what I can to keep the tent environment as ideal as possible. That and been staying on the mild side of nutrients so far. Also, while they've been growing, I've been trying to maintain approximately 24" between the tops and the light.

Day 12 - Each was given 1.5L with 0.5g/gal Sweet candy and 0.4g/gal Sea-K

Day 16 - Took a bit before the pots started lightening up a bit, even at 4 days it's not really as dry as I usually wait for, but decided to feed 1L each with 0.5g/gal SC and 1g/gal MegaCrop

Day 18 - There was enough room between the 4th and 5th node so I decided to give them both the chop. This is another new thing for me as I typically top between 5th and 6th nodes. Hoping that this leads to a cleaner/easier training plant with 2 less branches to fit in somewhere.

Day 19 - Both seem to be recovering well, watered 1L each with 0.5g/gal SC and 0.4g/gal Sea-K

Day 22 - It's about time to bump up the Megacrop. Fed both 1.5L with 2g/gal MC.

Alright, that's got us pretty much up to date. The plan from here is going to be to give them a few more days of growth before starting LST.

Good day everyone, I left them to grow a bit after topping to start the LST.

Here's Day 24 before LST

LST on Day 25 as well as a watered including the same concentration as previously of SC/Sea-K.

Day 27 was the next watering where I upped my MegaCrop to 3g/gal. I've also been continuously moving my lights up a bit at a time. Started about 24" (~11k lux) at 60w, but allowed to get a bit closer at ~20" (14-15k lux) and turned up to 80w, planning to scale up to full power leading into flowering.

Now here we are at Day 30, another SC/SK watering, I've been tweaking the LST daily and I think things are looking pretty good. Canopy is relatively even and spread out. I'll probably let them grow up from now on with some minor adjustments if needed. I've been playing with my lights again as well. I decided it's time to turn up the QB again, it's up to 120w but I also raised the light to nearly the top of the tent. It's about 32" from the tops of the plants, but still in the 14-16k lux range with a better spread.

Well, we are into preflowering now. My next feed will be upped to 4g/gal and maybe a little taste of Bud Explosion. This is getting close to where I usually run into some problems. I'm hoping that this time with the alternating feed schedule with not as much nutes will prevent the salt induced lockout that I believe that's been a root of some of those issues.

Have a good one!

I used Prescription Blend as my nutes with that grow and she stayed squat.

Awesome, great job! I'll swing by your signature links to check out how your grow went.

I’ve grown the Sweet Nurse once before and it also stayed fairly short. I did top it but it didn’t really stretch much afterwards. One of my favourites though, excited for this new one.

Here’s how she looked at harvest.

Thanks for the tag. Those two gals look really happy and healthy. Seems like a great job to me. :d5:

I harvested my 1st (and only so far) Sweet Nurse CBD back in July 2018. She wasn't tall, just 16" (40.6 cm), but the yield was nice for her size; 2.73 oz (77.5 gr). She was also grown on MegaCrop in a 3-gallon air-pot with amended Roots Original Soil, and harvested at 81 days. Good luck with your 2nd venture.

Like you, I'm working thru a nice collection of Sweet Seeds gear, much garnered courtesy of their Photo Contests. See my sig for link to a current grow that I'm just finishing up: two each of Sweet Seeds Jack-47, Trainwreck and Killer Kush.
:toke:

Tag anytime you want! Lovely plants. What do you use to measure lux?
