Harvest & Curing Boveda 62%

Blessed, I am anxiously awaiting your results. I have a business trip slated for Aug 14. Ideally I would harvest a few days before I leave, stick it in the jar and return a week later and all will be well. If that won't work, I'm faced with harvesting July 19 or so, hanging or brown bag for some days, then jar and burp until I leave them with the boveda's which will hopefully handle my week away. Jar it and forget it is what they say, and I have read on other forums that people do that, but most are still burping the jars anyway which makes it not any more hands off, maybe just a bit safer. Haven't heard from anyone on autoflower.net (the people I trust) that they have gone from trim to jar with boveda 62% and just left it to cure.

looks like my guesses were right.10-13% is perfect water retention within cannabis.Im sure they would work ok,but man imho your playing with fire,it has a lot to do with ambiet temp n RH in your part of the world.its all about maintaining 10-13% retension and 62% RH. and thats directly related to the RH in your area and your environmental temps too.so to stick freshly cut cannabis in there,ya could be playing with fire man.I would atleast hang dry for no less than a four day period to remove some of the water.Best of luck to all of you.Ive finally got the info I need for my C vault.Thank you all for your comments n stuff."AFN smoke out""AFN smoke out""AFN smoke out" perfectly cured cannabis here I come baby..LOL!

I am going to try this experiment with no drying, just directly in the jar with occasional burping.

I've been playing with the 62's for quite some time now. Even after bag or hang dry, once in the jars I've seen some alarming humidity spikes. I only use them now after I've gotten into the 60's.
Not saying don't test, Brother,:pighug:, just saying watch 'em close. And remember a good smooth smoke takes time (I think:crying:).
A control group would be great on this, taste and smoke from conventional cure to straight into jars. You could change the cigar industry!:smoke: Any way, I'm subbed "Munch..munch..munch and bud Karma to ya!:peace:

I'm going to do exactly what EoF is doing (maybe not 4 days as it may not take that long in 18-24% RH weather here) but proper stem snap dry then CVault with the Bovedas

I'm gonna do a little test though....that lies somewhere in the middle....
I snipped another popcorn bud this morning to check trichs (easier off the plant) and weigh it to see how I was gauging weight by eye...
So it's been on a dark closet shelf for today.

Put it in a small Ball tuppy with an 8g Boveda 62 - This should be WAY more than that little 1.5g nug will need to bring it down to 62 and keep it there.

Oh, yeah...

and the hygrometer...:)

Hey Red,

Have you noticed the Boveda's leaving any residual flavor behind? I used them on my first few harvests and noticed the buds all had a similiar 'off' scent and flavor too them.

I'm looking forward to all of hese experiments! Best of luck!

Yeah the thing I have been messing with for the past three years or better are drying times in my house n times of year.which can be a giant pain, holy crap..LOL!But using my Ball Jars.I got a lot of em too of four sizes cuz we can sometimes, fruits, veggies n spreads n things.Jams..mmmm.anywho,fuck Im stoned now Im want another magic cookie..who mentioned food?...damnit I did..ok three cookies later.. :pass:
I have yet to achieve that awesome n perfect cure.Thats why I bought the c vault.I used boveda since they've been around...ok well almost as long.but the whole burping thing IS totally new cuz I looked on thier site some time ago and this is the first Im hearing you can eliminate burping in the C vault.due to the paks ofcourse ,but just wild.so now that I got a fresh batch trimmed up time for more experimentation me thinks.

I know when I first lerned to grow I used the stem snap method to tell when my flowers were dry n ready for jarring.the problem I ran into every time with every strain was that the buzz was there ofcourse.great buzzes, just smelled like frigin hay n tasted like it too.it was too dry.so I altered my method to where its close to snapping(that will vary from environment) n does that quick bend like it was almost ready to snap.n thats when Ive found I maintain the best essential oils n terps n taste n smell when used with Boveda 62's.a 5 day slow dry n stem test n ill bet ya you get some stellar smoke n burnables dude."AFN smoke out""AFN smoke out"

Trapper, yep I am going to do it. 60 grams of wet highly trimmed bud. Now remember that it hasn't been watered for several days so probably isn't holding a full load of moisture within the walls and cells. Who knows though I could be full of shit. We will find out! I've got the other 3 Dragons finishing any day now and one of them is hanging upside down with the full plant for a day now so will do my normal way with that one. :-) So there is the control for ya Trapper! Already in place my good friend. Fuck I am high man and writing shit like crazy. And all I have smoked today is this unknown autofem dragon. It seems to have opened my crown chakra as well for those who know what I am talking about.

Exactly....not snap easy (too dry) but bendy/close to snapping....That's what I was reading/assuming was the perfect hang. Ending up somewhere in the high 60's%

Alright! :)

You've got the high end of the stress test covered and I've got a little of the middle....:)

Oh, BTW....after 3 minutes, that pack had brought the small guppy to 61% RH up from the 48% in the picture.

I don't know that I've had any residual flavor or after-taste, Bro. I'll have to really think on that one... I want to say the Dark Devil we had that didn't receive the Bovida had more flavor, more of the "citrus tang" , but I'll have to ask the missus, maybe she'll know.
I will say this. All the hard work, all the hours of mixing and measuring and babying and adjusting, all of that comes to a climax at the cure. Can you take shortcuts? Yes. And sometimes you have to. But IMHO, there is no real shortcut to a proper cure.
Fine wine or box wine? It's all grapes, it's just how you treat them at the end. :peace:

I mean the slower the dry the better really.I just often dont go through all the trouble of boxes n all that stuff.I close up a small room n stick a very small fan in the corner away from em on low n usually get a five to six day dry of even a 7 day dry if the buds are super dense.Just I wouldnt recommend going past a nine day slow dry.as is you still have to check for molds n such things anyway.but the slower ya do it ofcourse yer gonna have a higher risk.but a better product.Best of luck on yer harvest n drying Trap. Now all ya gotta do is turn around and do it again times three n get yerself a couple different strains to play with.:smoke:
