Harvest & Curing Boveda 62%

gbd
I don't know that I've had any residual flavor or after-taste, Bro. I'll have to really think on that one... I want to say the Dark Devil we had that didn't receive the Bovida had more flavor, more of the "citrus tang" , but I'll have to ask the missus, maybe she'll know.
I will say this. All the hard work, all the hours of mixing and measuring and babying and adjusting, all of that comes to a climax at the cure. Can you take shortcuts? Yes. And sometimes you have to. But IMHO, there is no real shortcut to a proper cure.
Fine wine or box wine? It's all grapes, it's just how you treat them at the end. :peace:

Amen.

This thread is rockin. Just the stuff I need to know about...awesome peeps paving the road for me!

Im glad its helpin ya out dude.from drying n jarring n storing n curing your meds is half the battle for a solid quality n killer tasting n burning med.Even cooking with them as well if your inclined to do so with your meds as I do a little of.The better they will taste ,even if you dont water cure or anything.I rather enjoy a nice n mellow smooth taste of quality cannabis..lol."AFN smoke out"

I'm playing devil's advocate here, a little...

If your normal, ambient RH is below 62% then wouldn't maintaining 62% while drying actually take longer?....and be "more controlled"?

Good point, Trapper, and I am really curious about this.
My head tells me (just a wild guess on my part) that air exchange is also a critical component to the cure process. Even when burping jars, maybe it's as much letting fresh air in as it is letting humidity out?:dunno:
Dammit, will the studying never end?! 3_3_103.gif

Yeah....same here. It does seem just intrinsically necessary.

Well ofcourse it takes longer.you increase it to around a 60-75% after the first day er two and keep the air flow slow n check yer buds a couple times daily minimum early on, and you should be able to maintain a good 5-7 day dry, maybe a lil more imo.Thats kinda what I do sorta or if Im able and that always, always gives me an easy 5 day dry.even if the buds are a little airy or small.but average dense buds will imo dry up nicely in a 5-6 day period n be ready for the jars,Cvault what have ya.

or are you talking about within the Cvault>cuz if imo you were to take a fresh group of dense freshly cut flowers n trim em up n toss em into a c vault small or large,I truly dont believe with a few Boveda packs in there they would be able to take up that amount of water, disipate that amount of gasses, eliminate any taste remotely associated with freshly cut cannabis n turn it into a prime grade smokeable.I just dont see it.Im sure it can be done with a good chemical or natural system or reducing the water, but input by weight made would be one hell of a nifty invention.Cuz the boveda only do it in a large constant or small increments.but uptake at a large degree at a massive constant is purely impossible at the small levels of gel that are in there.unless you put a small amount in a large vault n hit em with an extra couple paks..heck I dunno.sounds reasonable though..?..lol"AFN smoke out"

I think that's what my experiment is testing...where the bud was fairly wet (only nine hours of regular drying) but the capacity of the boveda far outstrips the amount of bud (1.5g wet) being adjusted...:)

What's interesting about the test so far is that I'm getting nice weight drop on the nug (down to .6g) but I'm getting two distinctive smells....grass (lawn) - ranging from fresh-cut to fresh-cut that's been sitting for a while so not good with that smell, but also an amazing, almost artificial candy meets fresh red grapes sweetness. As a result, I have been burping to see if I can keep the grassiness down.
