Old Reviews Carbon filter fan kits

I hope I am not wearing you guys out with questions but I plan to start my grow in ten days or so. ( I am going out of town next week or I would start now) My box is 3L'x2W'x4H'. I currently have three 120mm computer fans on the top for exhaust and (2) 6 inch passive intakes on the bottom of the box on each side. Air flow and temperature are working great. My problem is that I know (or hope) in 30 days or so I am going to start having odor problems.

I am looking at the carbon filter/fan kits on amazon. My questions/concerns are:

1. Is a 6-inch 440 cfm over kill? Do you think I will be okay with a 4 inch?
2. Is there much difference in noise between a 4 and 6 inch (I plan to get a speed controller)?
3. Do these kits really keep the adjoining rooms odorless or do I need to start setting the girlfriend up for a little smell issue .?

Any specific brands or set ups you recommend would be greatly appreciated.

With your size tent id go with a 4. I run a 6in 450cfm in my 5x5x7ft tent and its plenty for mine.

Thanks weedman. I think a 4 inch 190 cfm will be fine for my box too. I did a lot of research today I was just worried about the filter reducing airflow to much.

I got my 4" ventech fan filter from amazon it's 2 years old and only time I get any smell is when it is off

Even when I crammed 20 autos in my 3' x3' x6.5' tent it handled the stink of 20 flowering dragons with no problem

I'm extremely happy with my Ventech 6" inline fan + filter combo, it's in a 2x4x5 tent so it's overkill a bit, but I have a controller and turned down alot most of the time. I'm with sniper, only time I get a smell is when it's off, which is almost never hah. I went with overkill because of heat in summer and the potential to upgrade my tent one day. It's very well built, and doesn't seem cheapie chinese in any way, just fyi if anyone is looking at Ventech.

I have the 4" Ventech set-up for my 2 x 4 x 5 tent along with a fan speed controller. Couldn't be happier.
I really like the temp. control I have with the speed controller. I can really dial it in.

Thanks guy. I have been looking at the Ventech's. I like the idea of being able to expand sometime in the future. I also like the idea of being able to just dial it down. my real concern is noise. Does anyone know if the 4 inch much quieter than the 6 inch?

I don't know if it's any quite or not but with a speed control which I also have set at 75% speed it's no louder than my fan cooled ballast

Yeah I remember finding the sound values (in db) and yeah the 4" was listed as being several decibels less. The 6" is pretty darn loud at full blast. It would be very annoying inside the house, have my setup in a shed so it matters less. I would probably get the 4" if yours is inside interior of the house, and still get one of the $30 controllers. I got the Blueprint brand fan speed controller and it works perfect.

So anyone use the ventech 4in inline fan that's 22$ on amazon ? Says its a 100cfm an grab a 150cfm filter think it will be good enough for a 3x3x5 tent ?
