Live Stoner Chat Colorado retail weed. Rip off.

Fight to keep your right to grow, and let the retail market colapse around the greedy politicians feet. Sooner or later they will have to get real if the want to make a tax on this. but all they are trying to do is fix all the states money problems on the back of cannabis alone, and it won't work in the long run. Give it a 10% flat tax, and let the market run, then the will see a good tax revenue. But, if the see there 30% tax rate not working, they "blame" your ability to grow your own, and they'll ban it or make you buy a license to grow with "fees" attached.

It isn't legal here and won't be for a while, IMO. I grow for my own use and don't sell so I don't get noticed. If something gets popular it gets taxed. Government spends every dollar they take from us twice, than say we didn't pay them enough. Sometimes I think we might be better off without any government.

Like a fishermans license or hunters license, hell even foid card we have the RIGHT to do all these things but if you want to with out any problems from big brother then you gotta pay a yearly fee!

How much does supply and demand figure into the retail price?

I've read that the dispensaries can only sell what they grow, and because of the overwhelming demand and relatively few number of dispensaries, the supply will take a few more months to meet the demand. Therefore the current high prices. But as more dispensaries open over time, this will lead to a more balanced supply and demand equation and lower prices.

Am I understanding the situation correctly or am I over-simplifying the cause for the inflated retail prices?

Retail has to produce 70% of what they sell. The store was a MMJ store before going retail. MMJ stores could do a one time transfer of plants and product for retail.
The start up cost is very high as well.

Because of high demand it has shot up prices I think a lot of this is hype.

They have really adjust the numbers on this over last year. They figure the new taxes as well.
I want to say to on the first report that was published last year they said wholesale was going to be around $1000 a pound. Now its down to 600.

What they are saying is if market drives the price to $400 an ounce, then add 30% tax
your paying another $130 in tax! or a $30 gram becomes $39. I don't know about you, but that's a big hike to me! So if people increase their grows, or go back to buying from street dealers because its cheaper, well that opens a whole new can of worms!

If its down to $600 a pound, then someone is making out good at $400 an ounce!

I cant seem to find in our constitution or bill or rights that its a right.
Its not a right its a privilege, a license is a license.
I have the right to grow dope in Colorado and give it away but i need a license to sell it.
