Mephisto Genetics Coolbunny's Cob Closet

When I make the full batch of supersoil I add more supersoil to the bottom of the pot. So let’s say GBD says fill bottom 3rd of the pot with amended soil, I’m filling my pot half way with amended soil but only because of the lights. Not defying his suggestions or trying to be better, just noticing the lights make my plants want more. No documented ratios have worked for my grows after feeding recharge. The plants always want more sometimes double.

-I just make a hole deep enough for unamended soil using a paper towel roll.
-Pour the supersoil in the pot to your desired level while holding the paper towel holder in the middle of the pot,
-While the roll is still in the supersoil, pour some unamended soil in the paper towel roll hole to what would be the top of the soil and pot.
-Fill the rest of the pot with unamended soil then pull roll out.

I only use semi organic nutrients and salts in Tupur which is coco fiber. I wouldn’t chance it by adding bottled nutrients to your supersoil but if you’re midway through and things are yellow it won’t hurt. I hesitate to suggest adding liquid nutes to amended soil because I don’t have much experience other than flora nova as far as bottles go. It’s saved my ass a few times.

GBD tailored his mix just to use on autos so it’s just about finding that right balance. 24CT loved Ocean Forest on top and super soil on bottom (pot half filled,2 gal air pot). Will all strains tolerate that? I know cookies won’t. Double Grape took heavy sea grow and vb feeds and Sour Crinkle too so that leads me to think they will need more supersoil at the bottom of the pot when I run it next round. I will be making the full batch. Since you can’t really over feed in organics it’s just about keeping your temps in check, water ph in range and you’re good. Just make sure there’s plenty of food from the beginning or follow GBDs instructions to the letter but be prepared to top dress at day 40 or so. Not because his mix is deficient but because the lights make the plants more efficient.

What isn’t being talked about enough is the ratio of amendments needed while growing with intense lights such as COBS. I think Eyes on Fire or Pops can offer up some good feedback on the subject, as well as all our other No-Till Army, and Organic friends around here. I know they can help you better than I could. I’m a lazy farmer. What’s being experienced by me may be due to my conditions, my water and sheer luck but I got my paper towel roll holder idea from watching eyes on fire’s plastic cup tier system he uses. It also helped spurn the idea of my tiers with airpots.
What you're sayibf makes a ton of sense however. Thank you again for all the insight! I do believe it would be beneficial to see the different hunger amounts from each plant depending on the intensity of the cobs.

I also should have mentioned the liquid nutes I have are all organic, I've just always grown organic without intending too, simply happened to be what I picked up at the store my first run. Def gonna have to see, I'll prob hold off on the nutes. These plants are finishing a lot faster under the cobs, I just hope they really thicken up before the leaves become an issue.

Hi Coolbunny, been lurking as I like the Pats insignia and enjoyed your grow. Just drying and testing a little WW while I wait to finish 4AM . COBs and gbd’s supersoil next cycle is my plan. Just avoiding the shoveling/ digging out. Great thread!

@coolbunny1234 Just went thru this grow report and looks great. I noticed a lot of talk regarding cobs and GBD's SS. My 2 cents of limited knowledge. My first grow I started with Vipars and switched to Autocobs by bigsmo after 10 days. Soon after I noticed the plants wanting more then what I read and expected. So I took notes and read up and decided to try the Super Soil. My next grow was 10 Sour crack and 4 double grapes. The 10 cracks and 2 DG's I used the SS. The remaining 2 DG's I did not, they were to be feed Fox Farms trio. But after prepping all of them I top them all off with a spoon of dolomite and azomite each and water it in some. After 30 days the Sour Cracks were fine for the most part but needed a microbrew of micro nutes. That kept them healthy. All 4 DG were needing a full feed at day 30. From there on out all 4 DG needed cal/mag and a 1/4 - 1/2 feed of nutes to thrive. The Sour Crack were fine with water and 1/2 cal/.mag. I did give the SC's 1 molasses boost during flower but they did not seem to need but ha could get bigger.

So from what I read and what I saw, using the auto cobs I do, seems most will need cal/mag midway and on. Some will need more nutes even with SS in my very small sample. My sour cracks came out great and the DG's I am about to chop and look nice.

My current lights are 10 3500 Autocobs in a 8x4. My Veg I brought back the 2 vipar 600's and have 2 6500 Autocobs in a 4x4 for the first 30 days give or take. For soil I use FFOF, coco, perlite, EC's and cow manure. That is what I had for the SC and DG and current grow.

Just started 2 more with the SS and starting 10-12 more in the next 2 days in different formats and will see what happens.
sorry for the ramblings been drinking and smoking :pass:

I need to start my own thread instead of hijacking others :naughtystep:

Thanks for the input man! From talking with a few others on the site including yourself, it seems the auto cobs do cause the plants to suck up nutrients faster. I'll be trying out a heavier feeding of the super soil from gbd in my next batch and keep the nutes on standby if I need to add anything. Right now given they're a few weeks away from chop I figured I'd just let them ride. The double grape I've got looks amazing as well, just yellowing faster than I'd like it to. I'd love to see your hobby man def start a thread! :pass::pass::smoking::biggrin:

Here's cosmic queen [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG]. I'll post [HASHTAG]#1[/HASHTAG] when I open the jar, it's much frostier but was the sativa leaning one, which yielded less but still absurd nugs

Here are a bunch of Blue toof, day 35ish. I haven't kept track of days. Feed water and listen. They got hit with 30 degree F drops at night for a week, nursing them back to health.
Starting running all lights 24/7 to combat cold, will continue this grow and next. Sub zero weather aint kind.

pretty looking buds

Thanks man! You have to see the sativa pheno - it rivals double grape and ss in frosty levels!

Man those look awesome! When I grew out sour crack, the thing didn't get to be tallwr than 8 inches, but was quite thick. Unfortunately it was so thick the majority of it had mold hidden on the inside. Personally I really prefer the larger strains - the small ones produce one hell of a unique smoke but the more sizeable ones are just as good, if not better imo. Everything looks great in your closet man, the purple of the dg is awesome as well. Fortunately I'm currently growing in a small closet, which stays around 65-70 when the lights go out, compared to 75-77 with the lights on :pass:. Hopefully the cold goes away soon!
