Grow Mediums Do I have a problem? Root caught in netpot.

Hey Shotta ,its a common problem lots of hydro growers get ,ive had plenty of res issues & found myco/bennie tea worked best for me.There's other ways to stop it like h2o2 & other sterile agents you can use .Check the stickys at the top of the hydro section for more info & yea,get the res as cool as poss bro ..Cover the bucket like GreyBear says & anything else you can think of ... I got my airpump in a fridge just to keep @ below 20oC :no: drastic but it works .more ventilation all helps too

Im using Canna Rhizotonic which ive learned is an algae based nutrient..I know my res temps were high but could the rhizo have contirbuted? Maybe nute def or light issue? Just want to know what the problem is you know..

Like you said the slime is most probably stopping nute uptake but doubt its the rhizo doing it unless there's a light leak or some other problem.Its a process of elimination to make sure everything with your set up is dialed in ...it only takes one small issue to cause a lot more !.

In your "back up plan" pic the other bucket, in the top right looks like it has the lid slightly open where the airline goes through ? ...IF that lets the tiniest amount of light in ,slime can breed.Also 22-23oC is very close to danger zone with res temps & it really will help to cover the bucket with insulation of some kind ...get some longer airline so you can move the airpump somewhere cooler ect. The other thing is how powerful your airpump is ?... Not enough air or turbulence in the bucket can make for a nice breeding ground for nastys too !. :Sharing One:

shotta12, I've been using a product called SM-90 to keep my res clean. Even though my res was getting up to about 75F at times this Summer I had no problems. I also control the tent and res temp with my ventilation fan which is on a variable speed control. I crank the control up when I see the res getting too hot. I've also had luck adding ice to the res to bring down the temp. Good luck!

@DWCocha - My pump says 254 Gallons per hour...yes i dont put the airline thru the hole in the side of the bucket..guess i have to start using that...i got extra hydroton yest andd my voodoo juice just arrived so i put that in at 3ml total for each plant...well see how it goes...hopefully they pull through if not this has taught me a valuable lesson and prepared me for next round..ill update after work tonight to see if the VooDoo Juice did any good after 8 hours

@Jackmc, thanks for the advice..ill give that a try in the future..right now im invested in the voodoo juice so ill see how that works out before i keep buying products

I got home and I can see growth from just today. Health looks good. Ive let some water sit out so im going to get a fresh res.. so far voodoo juice seems to make a difference pics incoming

New root growth immediately. .the brown was there already I think the longest root is dead as it was the only one

When mine started to grow I had a couple of roots circle back up into the netpot. A few days later there was 10 sticking out so I wouldn't worry at all.

Update - The Voodoo Juice is amazing and very highly recommended, the roots are exploding.

The damage that was already done stopped spreading and the roots are pretty white. I noticed a little browning yesterday and started an H2O2 soak. It wiped right off and everything is looking good. I made a new res without the Voodoo of course since the H2O2 is in there. today the new growth doesnt seem as happy although it was standing at attention yesterday. They are under light 24/7 but at night the temps drop to 68F, could that be the cause? Im thinking it is a nute def and I think i will make up a new res tonight. I just started 1/2 strength nutes so maybe i over did it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Pics incoming
