'Dee- Any reason you're not choosing to use a dedicated Ca-Mg product? I gather, you're not treating a defc., but looking for regular supplements? ...problem is, CaCO3 sources like dolomite takes a while to get broken down into the soil, though it does offer buffering capacity (the carbonate ion does nothing nutritionally for the plant); also, getting into the soil evenly is all but impossible after the fact, so unless you have specific reasons to use CaCO3 as is, use something else; molasses is a fine nutrient supplement, a decent source of Ca, Mg and K, plus, the soil 'crobes will love it!

As for the differences in sizes between the plants,...could attributed to several things,.... :dunno: ..if it's genetic, then there's nothing to be done there, just keep an eye out for balls appearing, just in case,...! otherwise, wait and see,...
