New Grower First grow starting this week - 1xNirvana Blue Mystic 1xNirvana Short Rider

Any chance of harvesting after you return ? I'm under the impression that CFLs take a little longer ... always a shame to rush ...

Problem with waiting is that I could be delayed returning depending on how the project goes...I'm going to cross my fingers that we delay the implementation....barring that I might get the wife to harvest but she will be less than thrilled to say the least. Maybe with cfl like you say 90 days will be perfect. I'm going to push this week to firm up an implementation date end of August instead of July. If they only knew my reasons LOL.

I think you've grown the blue mystic strain before...what was your harvest day?

I hit 'em w/ lots of LED and mine generally run about 84+ days ... any idea what your normal rh is indoors (curing space) ... you're about a week delayed on flowering but your plants are healthy ... my friend cut his Blue Mystic off at the base and hung it w/o trimming in a semi closed space w/ an rh of 45-55% ... two weeks later it was just about right for jarring ... I would have jarred, checked rh and either left them in the jar and burped regularly for a couple weeks or taken the buds out for another 6-8 hrs of breathing if the rh was 70% or above ... he was able to hang them for two weeks w/o no mold and not over dried ... leaving the plant complete extended the drying time tremendously ... I usually dry about 5 days then jar ...

My humidity currently is about 45% throughout the house. Might go up a bit later in the summer, but we keep AC going strong which keeps it pretty dry.
So if you think my plants are about a week late on flower, then maybe 90+ days might be about right for me if you do 84 days.

You don't have to determine what to do until 12-14 days prior to departure, right? I mean I'm dealing with this too, but sooner. I either have to start the flush so I can harvest before leaving or have a friend initiate the flush for me....and wrap it up upon return. At that time (12-14 days prior) you'll just have to make a judgment call as to how far along she is at that point...I was told that changing the light to more dark might accelerate the process as well. Unless the wife doesn't want to have anything to do with the drying/curing either...then you have to build time in for that as well....

I started transition feeds (veg & bloom - twice or three times) at the beginning of week 5 (IIRC) and I still had stretch anyway so I don't know if it did anything.

Thanks Trapper. If I can't push the trip, I'll have to go with whatever is. Today I switched up my lighting to 1 2700 and 1 6500k. Still fed veg nutes tonight... Will go with bloom next time around. This is an organic grow, so I'm not sure how much the nutes matter....everything is supposed to come from the soil right?

You know being a total newbie when I bought my seeds, I saw 8 weeks and thought great perfect for my timing. Didn't know what I didn't know. I remember once in my teens I grew a little plant under a desk lamp from bag seeds...it got to about 8 inches - spindly as hell about 6 leaves and I plucked it, baked it in the oven and smoked it!!!!!! Needless to say...nothing but a headache.

I'll just have to roll with it. I have told the wife if she mentions this to anyone, I will have to pull the plug...can't have a risk factor beyond what exists just by growing. If push comes to shove, I guess I could get a buddy in to help with the harvest...you put all this work in, don't want to mess up the end product!

Yup....would be a shame to work so hard to get to the finish line then chop immature stuff that then becomes all "speedy" but yah just don't know until you know sometimes. The trusting someone else to know about it and do it for you is rough in it's own way too....the most crucial time of the whole deal as it relates to finished product. I knew I would be cutting it close with 64 days and that I would be harvesting at least, slightly immature bud but then this thing (My DD) showed a bigger portion of Sativa-dom pheno and I guess they take a bit longer. We'll see.

Nirvana's website says 5-7 weeks of flowering ... at 4 weeks they are not flowering yet so I would add 2 weeks plus 5-7 and see where that takes you ... I'm guessing mid to late august for actual harvest window ... it's always good to have contingency plans but I'd ride them hard 'til it's time to leave and then switch to plain water cleanse while you're gone ... that way all your wife has to do is give them a little plain water a couple times a week ... when you come back you harvest and enjoy ... if the cleanse gets extended a week or two it won't hurt anything ... if your wife ends up harvesting it's as simple as cut the plant off at it's base and hang in your grow space for up to two weeks .... you're gonna need a way to hang it anyhow so you should have it prepared before you go ... An act as simple as the cleanse can help get your wife involved in your growing and take an interest in it ... I don't trust my wife w/ Fertilizer but she can pour water w/ the best of them ... I'd much rather leave my wife in charge of the cleanse than the cure ....

Great advice Chester. I always look forward to hearing your take on things. I know she can pour water! And she will cut the plant if required she has agreed! So probably being gone a week or so will be fine. I'm going to post some pics tonight...I think my last ones didn't show the flowers/preflowers very well battery was low on the camera so I didn't get any of one plant.
