New Grower First grow starting this week - 1xNirvana Blue Mystic 1xNirvana Short Rider

Got to do something about the heat in my cabinet...was 99 at plant level tonight so I propped the doors open a bit still maintaining the mylar reflectivity. Dropped to 84. I have more lights for side lighting but no way I can add more heat in there. Have to put some creative thinking on this one!

Morning mate :) I think your going to have to get a better air exchange system on the go can you get a bigger intake fan? You will find as your plants get bigger the temps will rise more as leaves will slow down the air exchange. Also at this stage I don't think there is any need to be running 250w CFL while your babies are so small. You mentioned that you have some smaller powered cfl I would go with them as close as possible for now and work your your FAE (fresh air exchange)
best of luck brother

did I just read in another thread that one seed failed? I would hold back poping another one until you know your temps are going to be under control. Also you will probably get the same amount of bud doing 2 plants in that area with CFl because the light penetration will struggle to get to your lower bud sites, also with 2 plants you will get better FAE
just my"My 2 cents"
I have a friend that had the same problem with a fridge grow, he tried to cram too many plants in and ended up with hard buds on top and loads of popcorn below

've also got a case of fungas gnats from roots organic soil, lots of choices I would do different with my 20/20 hindsight!

Have you sorted these out yet sb.
The gnat larvae will feed on your young roots and can cause severe damage to young plants if not treated.
Ive never used Mosquito Dunks, but most growers swear by them to get rid of fungus gnats.
Or you can get Gnatrol, which i have used, and did work after i doubled the recommended dosage.
(maybe it had been watered down as i got it off ebay). These 2 products contain Baccilus Thuringiensis, which i believe is a parasitic mite that enters the fungus gnat larvae and kills them.
In the end i found prevention was better than cure and put an inch thick layer of perlite on top and bottom of my pots(cover drain holes). The adult gnats cnt get in or out coz the perlite lacerates their exo-skeleton and they dehydrate and croak.
Hope this helps sb.Good luck mate.

I sprayed some Neem oil around in the cab and a bit on top of the soil..no gnats since then. But I ended up ordering mosquito dunks instead of gnatrol and also will put a layer of perlite on today when my products arrive. I'll treat with the mosquito dunks when I water tomorrow. Hopefully have this situation under control.

I popped another short rider last weekend so she's already an inch high. I guess I could do a sacrifice to the MJ gods in hopes of a stellar harvest. Man that will hurt though!

My cabinet back is thick cardboard so I can do some stuff with that as far as air holes etc. My intake fan is a five inch corded desk fan blows pretty good...the out take is a 5 inch battery operated fan...not much pull.. I need to replace that but cash is very short now with all the investment in this hobby.

Stealth is not a huge requirement since this cabinet is in a locked storage room in my house. For obvious reasons of course I want containment and ability to have it look like a regular storage unit. Keeping the doors open is not a problem on a daily basis at all...I just want that reflection from the mylar. But with that said I do have the overhead reflector, so could sacrifice one side. The storage room has an exhaust fan in the window as the cat box is in there...mouse hole cut in the bottom of the locked door for them to enter. So I'm not worried about smell..Have had up to 3 litter boxes in there in the past only changed weekly... I know odor will not be an issue. During the day I work from home alone and can open the storage room to allow more air flow into the room. I think I'll be able to control my temps better with these changes.

Don't kill the Short Rider ... let it grow til it gets in the way then move it outdoors ...

I would love to move it outside, but I don't have any sun, my whole backyard is wooded and shady. Can't put it out front for sure! LOL I do have a top part to the cabinet, so maybe I could set it up with the smaller cfl's I have 6 of them and just see what it does. Could also makeshift a little grow tub with the small cfl's and the fans I will eventually replace in the cab. I'll try something! Maybe i should sacrifice one of the Blue mystics....I need to check the smoke reports, I was hoping for 2 different strains for different experiences.

After smoke report checks, I think i will def. keep the short rider and if I sacrifice anyone, it will be one of the Blue mystics... By the time they need to be moved or "KILLED" I might select based on health, I guess its too soon to make a for certain statement.

I'd rather put a plant in the shade than kill it ... a lot of plants are smaller than expected ... maybe you'll have space in your cabinet ...

One thing about outside here is my area is super hot. In the 90's in the shade in the summer and very humid. I just have to work out my heat issue in the cab even if I lose some reflectivity
