Harvest & Curing First time and harvest is close just looking for peolpe to share there thoughts

i knew from the start I had no time expectations and was just going to take it one step
At a time.. last thing I wanted was to get this far and then harvest early cuz that'd be one sad day.. is it best to harvest when the pot is pretty dang dry? And would you suggest when I chop her, to leave some stems on to be able to check for dryness ? Im going to be using a drying rack.. once again I appreciate all the responses soo many thanks.. I really like the community around here.. I'm more of a forum lurker then poster but it really does help you learn a lot witch is the end goal

Do you have a trustworthy Hygrometer that can fit inside a Mason jar ? Have you read the drying and curing threads here ? If the air is very dry I like to harvest when the soil is still damp ... in humid conditions I aim for drying when the soil is dry ... need a hygrometer to answer that question accurately ... I consider below 55 rh is dry and above is humid ... stem helps to slow the drying down ... so it depends on if your drying environment is humid or dry ... good job of not harvesting too soon ...

I wouldnt say trust worthy.. I do have a couple lil ones to fit into the jar but they are on the way should be here thrusday witch will most likely be tree chopping day .. the one I have now I wouldn't trust it's reading Tbh.. I belive my room sits between 50-60 rh.. I have read the thread too lol like I said I do quite a bit of reading on these forums and thanks

all Im gonna say is Brown food bags then dude, you cant beat them for a safer more assured way to dry

Soo you recommend the paper bags overall ? Does moisture absorb into the bag .. I'll have to do some reading lol I figured the drying rack woulda just been simple and easy but know ill have to see about them Brown bags haha.. do you completely shut the brown bag? Sorry for the questions lol

yeah bro, they are excellent, dry and start the curing process a lot quicker then hang drying in my opinion.
I use 12 inch x 12 inch brown food bags, I then place a line of buds at the bottom of the bag, then roll them up like a sausage and stack them up criss cross style in my drying tent, with a hanging basket and fan underneath.
My temps are about 67 F at the moment and im getting about 60% RH In the tent itself, takes me about 2 weeks for them to be dry enough to put into a Tupperware box, yup, that's my next stage, put it all in air tight boxes, put in a RH meter, seal it up, leave for 2 hours, if the reading goes above 65%, I take out a pop it all back in a few paper bags,. leave overnight and repeat the next day, if bang on 65%, I then put it all in paper bags and seal them up aswell in the box.
Ill check the RH every day, if it rises, out it goes, if it falls too fast, I remove the paper bag and just put weed in the box, reseal and recheck...
it is a time consuming thing man & everyone has their own techniques, mine is just something I discovered worked best for me, your on the path to learning yours. Best of luck dude! youll breeze it and be smoking lovely erb in no time.
Just don't over dry it! don't be tempted to raise the temps.. that's the main rule! or youll get hay, lawn grass smelling weed.

No harm in putting a little bud or two for testing purposes into a brown bag and putting that on something warmer tho, if ya gaggin for a smoke.
sometimes its instant taste with those bags,. magical thangs that they are.

Totally appreciate you taking the time to share this information... I'll be tight on space in my tent. Can I put them in closet with a fan within the room not blowing directly on the bag and I like the hanging basket idea might just have to use that

And when you say like a sausage haha do you mean just not to snug around the buds and I woulda thought the brown bags would increase chances of mold but from what I'm reading so far it seems to be the opposite

tis my pleasure to help out bro, no problem.
yeah bro, you can put them anywhere, all depends on if you want the smell filtered, if it isn't a concern, then anywhere bro where there is a good airflow, fresh air in and around the bags, bad air out.
yeah not too snug around the buds, a lightly rolled big joint. lol.
I do sometimes just fold them, to breathe, if too hot, I fold the bags in half, if cold like it is now, roll it up like a big ol fat one.
mould? ive never had mould in brown bags dude. not once. but..that aint saying it couldn't happen,. just let the buds breathe. don't cram them in, about golf ball sized buds is good.
