Hello guys, i m interested in growing myself.I got a friend who gave me a lot of info and couple of ventilation and buckets to start with. So i am after a good HPS lamp with Ballast etc.I'm going for HPS, cause its much cheaper than the LED plus will add some heat to my cold appartment during winter (hopefully ^_^ ). So i am thinking of some ebay 600w HPS + Ballast + reflector.I am not sure if the quality of the products are good, but for 70Euro i guess its just fine.
The question now is can i manage the strength of the lamp through Balast?I've red that the job of a ballast is to limit the amount of current that reaches the bulb.So since P = V * I and V is stable at 220, by reducing the current i should get a lower consumption right?I wrote a silly ap in C++ to get the price of electricity i m going to pay for it and it goes like 23.22Euro and 324KW/H per month, for 30 days, 18 hours per day, or 0.77E per day 10.8KW/H. Another friend of mine though, told me that once he payed like 500E in Electricity in 4 months, and he blamed his growing facility for that.What do you think?
Also, is it truth that the more light you have the best yeld you will get?I've red that there are some caps in lumens that a plant can absorb.
