hi all think ive got a big problem with northern lights, its 8 days old and turning yellow, under a 400watts hps, 12" ie 1ft away, have a fan blowing over so i dont think heat is the problem as it averages 75f-80f. im using b&q multi purpose in 3 gallon pots, im having to use tap water have not give them any nute yes as they only 8 days old, does anybody know what this could be to do with? could the compost be to hot? ie nutrients.
any advice will be appreciated as my other 2 northern lights are starting to do the same 2014-02-15 19.04.23.jpg

Light is too close, way too close. Seedlings should be 34-38" from the top. Tap water is fine, no nutrients is good. B&Q Multi Purpose may have some nutrients in it by the name of it.

How many times have you watered it in 8 days? Would you like me to move your thread to the infirmary? More views there!

hi i looked up about how far the light would be with a fan blowing over but i did think it might be too close only being 1ft away. ive only gave them a few good sprays at the top of the compost, then a proper water today. yeah moving it to the infirmary is good please. thanks for the reply

For seedlings with a 400W HPS, at the bare minimum, 24" is what I'd go for. Even with a cool tube the temperature isn't the issue as much as the intensity is, in my experience. Moving to the infirmary!

hi iv put the light at 2foot to see if it helps cheers

:karma Cloud: for you and you gals, 1984!
wg know his stuff, Brother. You may want to consider backing the light off another foot.
I looked up B&Q multi-purpose, and it gets some mixed reviews, especially for product consistency and problems with root development in seedlings.
