I have just had a ripper of a day .
Sunday is my day at home doing what I want to do , no work issues . So I had a old tree stump in the yard that I have been wanting to burn out . Of I go and fire it up and bugger me , hang on I want to have a go at making Bio char too . Out comes the chain saw and I cut a heap of wood that the cyclone dropped. Now all this wood is hard wood , and some of the hardest in the world .
so stump is burning all is good , now to add the wood.
From start to finish was 8 hours with day temp 35 c so bloody hot . now you will see by the next photo how hot the temps got in the fire .
After lots of beer
, as I had to keep my temp down , purely for safety reasons , can't get heat stroke , Safety first when you do this .
So next , I have a wee joint because all is going good . So here I am sitting adding wood and it is getting bloody hot . I could fell the heat from 20 ft away . Hard wood will do that . One thing I will say I have spent a lot of time studying making Bio .char . So will this work , I hope so .
now lets see .
Now that I have cooled it down .Lets have a look .

spot on . S next . Lets try the water test .
What you see here is the char that I added water to just cover the char , and within 10 min the water level was below the char ,

it worked . I believe I should get 80 % out of the pile , also we ate expecting some heavy rain in the next 2 days , so I will leave it outside then dry it and sort it out . There is a lot more at play here than what I have posted , so if you need more info just ask .
:smoking:
