I agree with elsamuri, CFLs work, but it is a challenge to get enough photons to the leaves. For happiest plants I want about half the intensity of midday sun, that requires a lot of CFLs. And CFLs are half as efficient as HPS... that means more heat and more electricity. CFL is OK for 1 or 2 small plants. If you are growing more maybe you can find a cheap HPS, all the commercial agriculture growers use them worldwide,so they have to be available.

I had 200 actual watts of CFL on my HBSS, I think she could have used twice as much light!

Thanks Bubba for the info !! the problem over here is the electricity cost .... HPS eats lots of Kw ..... im thinking to grow only 1 plant ... and already did my homework about CFL's and for what i saw and read ... if you get the right onces with the right lumens .... you can get pretty nice plants. Im sure HPS and LED's are gonna give you better plants .... but for me right now its about Electricity cost, i already put my seed on paper towels. As soon as she shows up, ill start a journal as well !!

That is what I thought, I am learning the hard way that HPS can be double the efficiency of CFL.
So HPS might need half the electricity to put out the same amount of light.
I like CFL for growing one small plant, and for starting seedlings. CFL is so easy to buy and set up.
What does your electricity cost, mine is about USD $.12 per killowatt

Thanks Bubba, im also looking fowar for the next 2 weeks !! im feeding her Guano and Molasses mainly ...... unfortunaltey its raining season now ..... and its been raining a lot wich is good, but not much sun ..... not a good time for it ...... still she is looking lovley !! Not quite a long side brunches but still a nice promising main cola ...

About the HPS and cost let me find out and ill let you know

Its Beeing raining for 1 day non stop and very heavy one ...... so i guess its was some kind of "natural" flush ..... she loves the rain do !! My concern its the lack f nutrients in the soil at this time of flowering .... so i just fedd her Guano as a foliar feed and some micro nut plus Molasses via soil .... looks like more rain its coming, .. but not today !!! the sun its shining right now

Looking good mate! I love an outdoor grow! My first grow was in a cold frame green house. Nothing better than looking at your plants while they're bathing in the sun!
