Grow Mediums James' first grow - DP Autoglueberry with autopots

its not an addition, its a must IMO. My tap water is so shitty that I have to use RO water, thus, I have to ph every gallon I make.

starting with a cheap ph meter is ok, but plant to either tthrow it out every 6 months, or upgrade to a goos one, like the ExStik PH105, or a Blue Labs.
Cheap ph meters ruined a couple of my grows, I learned my lesson!!

The same for an ec or ppm meter. knowing the strength of your nutrient solution tell your more than just how much your feeding your plant. It can also be a diagnostic too when sued with a ppm meter.

Im not sure of your guys location but a ppm/ec meter is a great addition to your kit. You can get them quite cheap on ebay/amazon. I use canna coco and their process is quite specific. Usually they have directions on the side of the bottle as how to ph. Personally i would let the water sit 24 hrs then add the nutrients, let that sit several hours mixing it periodically then ph last.

Hi guys,

I didn't really want to keep updating every couple of days at the same stage so left it a few days.

Today is day 18 and i am happy with the condition of the plants, i think they are growing really well.

Just fed them with 1.25m/l sensi a and b, 0.75m/l cal mag, 0.20ml root and 0.75m/l silicate. Temps 27-28 and r/h 25-35. They had 1.5 litre each this time. I will water again day 21 until run off and then turn the domes on and then the autopots

EC was 1.8, my tap water has around 250ppm so i think this is about as strong as i want to go at this point.

Light has been 30" above for around 5 days, moved down to 25" today, i will monitor closely as others have mentioned these CMH lights are really powerful

If anyone has any suggestions with what they read and see please fire away.

I need to get myself a profile picture asap.

Edit: moved the light back up to 30" the temps were increasing to much at 25".

Looking good man. The first 3 weeks is the hard part so you've done a nice job giving them a good start, almost time to turn on the autopots and watch them do their thing. ;)

Looking good. Are you using tap water? I only ask because I could never get away with that little cal/mag with my distilled water.

I understand, I started with what I could afford, so all my beginning equipment was cheap stuff. Upgrade what you can when you can. Every time you do, you see things improve!
@pop22 that is for the advice on the meters there, i don't have enough the cheapest but certainly not the best. I hope they are sufficient

Hi guys,

@Hansbricks Thanks man that is good knowing that you can give me the nod on the plants. I know they look pretty healthy. One is quite a bit bigger than the other, like people i suppose?

@HemiSync yes i am using tapwater EC is 0.25, i pH it to 5.8 and lower the nute mix a little to keep the ppm down to around 800. Last feed was 900 so, will increase with time.

@pop22 yes i think that is the way to go, i have been buying bits each month.

Cheers

That explains your lessen need for cal/mag. That 0.25 EC is probably high in cal/mag of some type. My tap water is over 0.5 EC and has something in it that all plants don't like, even after letting it bubble for a couple days. So I make my own distilled water or use rainwater from my rain barrel. Since you are using coco I would keep my eyes open for any cal/mag deficiencies that might creep up on you as your plants mature.

Day 24

I got the airdomes and autopots on a few days ago, filled the Res up with around 17 litres of solution, 1.5m/l sensi grow, 1.25m/l cal mag, 0.5m/l silicate, 0.20m/l root stimulator, 1m/l drip clean. I have also moved the 315CMH light 25" above the plants about 3-4" lower than before. Will see how they are when I return from work later on.

The plants have flourished since turning the airdomes on. There is just a couple of fan leaves where the tips look slightly burned on one plant (bigger) the other plant does not have one mark on it whatsoever.
