Makes sense, centrifugal force probably evens the load out on the bearing, instead of the weight pressing down with gravity at slow speed.

I have read that the fastest way to ruin a fan is to run it below 50% so maybe it is a good thing you have to turn it up.

Heard that also....that's why I have another one in storage...if this one shits the bed...I can replace in a hurry without waiting on courier to get one to me...you are right though...I should run at least 50% to stretch out life of fan.

I went to smaller inline fans that are 34 watts and run them wide open.
