I am using an autopot autovalve to fill a tray in my greenhouse in which my plants are sitting in fabric pots. The temps outside are in the low 80s and I have notice that opening the reservoir midday it’s looks like it is raining in there.

I was wondering how well the nutrients hold up under that kind of abuse from outside temps? So far I only take pH readings first thing in the morning while the solution is semi-cool and it does go up daily but not excessively, just persistently. Also when I open the rez after sitting all night, there is a film on top of the solution. It stirs back into solution with just a stir but was wondering if that is anything to be concerned about?

Open solution under the sun just calls for troubles...
Put some film on that.
I have covers for the trays and am not concern about the inch of solution in the trays. I’m more concerned about what is going on in the closed reservoir with 5 gallons of solution heating up everyday.

Side note about the trays. I had the one open in the sun for a week before I started covering them and nothing seemed to be growing in them. Now I have weed barrier cloth covering it. I left it open for the pictures so folks could see where the valves are.

I have a tank of MEGA CROP concentrate sitting outside for about 10 months now, use it for personal tomato grows. It stands up well to temperature. The film might be a bacteria growth or algae growth, which probably wouln't be too big a deal.

Thanks for information. I figured it would be okay but wanted to be sure. There is a slight growing smell when you first open the tank which doesn’t seem to be getting worse.

Also, I have noticed the the pH if the solution does drift upwards daily. I haven’t let it go to see if it settles somewhere and have been using ph down daily. Do you check the ph on your outside tank?

I don't check PH lately, tap water is 8.5+ also here , but eventually I will get the injector setup so I can autopilot them on drip irrigation and target the pH to be 5.5-6.5 range.

If it was cannabis or a high value crop I would check ph always and not slack off like that.
