I can't get past the idea of bud that tastes of garlic...spit..spit....but handy disguise if it's the grow smell...

I think at least part of the aroma is not from terpenes, but some organic sulfur compounds common to onions and garlic... Whatever the chemistry is, it's closely linked to skunk spray stank too. I think that funky BO smell that some bud gets is also in this mix?
I've not had an onion/garlic smell plant before,...do recall some bud that had some definite notes of this though. I think you might be recalliong the Garlicane cross I grew few years back. This cross does have some "garlic" cultivar parent, forget which it was, but so far folks who grew Garlicane report other aromas, all funky though! Mine had a peculiar mix of mild sweet, dairy, chemical, and overripe fruit...
She offered an excellent high, great social/party weed, she was very well received by mates
...potency was really high too, Sun grown helps of course... Buds were neutron matter dense, more like hash in texture from all the resin and it's texture
