...yup, there's something too that... I can't call it "scientific", but sometimes when I'm pondering the wide selection of cultivars I have on hand and their respective effects, I find a unaccountable craving of sorts directs me to some choices,...even some mixes of them
And that goes both ways, as I have found some blends were somehow anti-synergistic View attachment 1778065...a flat, weird or boring high
On funky smells, I'm a known olfactory pervert ... I can say the highs some of the funky stuff offers is tops! A Trainwreck pheno of bag weed I got years ago was so wicked cat-pee it tingled the nose! My dealer McDopette at the time had some difficulty getting rid of it because the aroma was so uncanny -- funny, it was just the jar smell, broken up it was sharp citrus floral with a room smoke smell of exotic incense...
I has a weird pheno of Wild Thai Ryder that has a barfy funk to it, in-jar only... Like the TW, broken up was altogether different and also an amazing incense blend room smoke aroma... Go figure!
Both were very potent too

I have a whole one pound Grove bag of Lil Stick that absolutely reeks of barf when opened. When consumed it reverts to over ripe fruit and is quite pleasant. I have to hold my nose until it is lit or my stomach heaves. It is one of the most potent strains I have grown. Presently growing a cross of this called Lil Mango and curious to see how it compares.

She didn't smell garlicky either BTW... I'm with you, not sure I'd enjoy that aroma profile? There are some I just plain don't like; burnt rubber is one, some "stale herb cabinet" is another...
Poop stank is obnoxious, especially in the room smoke smell LOL ...it's been decades since I had dogshit weed, but it's out there even as a specific cultivar!

Weirdest I've had is a big skunk#1 in the garden. Smelled like medicine! Like I was 6 years old again and checking into hospital to get me tonsils yanked. But, after dry she smelled like weed, whew. And was good meds

Now that's interesting! WTR seems to be the carrier for this, and that it shows in LilStick is music to me nose... I'ma run another LilStick this year anyway, the high is so damn good...
Yeah, it seems to be a "distance" smell, like some skunk smell is; up close, broken up, it's not there or very mild... Something about a reaction to air and mixing-?
I had some buds of an olde Sour Diesel that had that skunk stank to them, made the car reek of it. I sniffed the samples of the cultivars he gave me and wasn't sure who the culprit was until I jarred them up later ...

That's another one! Odd mix of chemical, herbal, cleaning agents... "hospital" smell!
