Here’s a question for all those that use a tent humidifier in your grow…..

…..how often do you clean them?

Used to have to every 2 weeks... and they STILL died in a year... switched to RO water with the replacements.. no cleaning needed.

I used to do it every grow with my old one the best I could. I’ve gotten lazy lately and have got away from it but I plumb my RO direct into it with a float valve which makes a huge difference on how clean it stays.

After every grow cycle. I just use clean distilled water and my hand to wipe down. After that I use Q tips to get in the nooks and cranny’s.

I use vinegar and a toothbrush…when i am growing and need to clean them! If not the piece that actually turns the water into water droplets gets slimy and will fail! And once it gets too dirty no amount of cleaning can bring it back to working properly!

Cheapo ultrasound unit without a humidistat.

I started putting it outside the tent near the intake so there's more room in there plus it's way easier to fill and control.

I wipe the tank inside every couple of weeks with HOCL. It does get grungy with god-knows-what microbes.

I was reading up on tent humidifiers today, and it’s recommended to clean them every third day for heavy use, to avoid misting harmful bacteria and mold all up in yo shit….

I got to thinking about it after seeing someone using a hose to pipe humidity into the tent from the humidifier, that was outside. Sure seems like a breeding ground for black mold etc….

I think I’ll just keep ignoring my low humidity numbers….
