Ok I have a question..this might sound stupid but....

Is England the same thing as the UK? Or is there a difference between Great Britain, England, and the UK or can you all just not decide what to call your country? lol

Also is there a regular Britain and you had to differentiate between the two and added the "Great" at the beginning?

Hahahaha! Great britain (or the united kingdom as its also called) is made up of 4 countries- england, scotland, northern ireland and wales. The government is based in London, which is the capital city of england. The other countries do have a certain amount of self-governing, from their capitals- Cardiff, in wales; Edinburgh in scotland and Belfast in northern ireland.

Oh and im not sure who gave us the 'great' bit, we probably just started it to look cool and it caught on. :rofl:

So, here goes.

Great Britain is never used as a postal term, rather UK which is United Kingdom.

So an address would be

ddddddddd
aaaaa
aaa
UK.

not GB

or if you wanted to be more specific you could state which of the British isles(although they are not isles) you are posting to.

ie
Wales UK
England, UK
Scotland, UK
or
N. Ireland UK

Is that clear ??????
 
I might add that Canada, Australia, and New Zealand , all maintain a relationship to the UK that The US severed during the revolution.

some isles are british.isle of man and others.
