"One in ten adults who regularly smoke the drug become dependent on it and those who use it are more likely to go on to use harder drugs,"

The that's hardly the "definitive" answer the headline leads you to believe..:dunno:

It's my belief that the newspapers are paid to print this rubbish by the other 2 main parties that didn't say at their political conference that they would bring in the use of medical cannabis and to decriminalise all drugs for personal use.
Some people will do any amount of scaremongering just to win the vote makes me ashamed to be British when they show such pettiness

Could not agree more.

Weather or not a papers are paid to support political parties or not, the fact is this report was released independantly and the papers picked up on it.
The problem I have is what the report has to say about cannabis and it being as addictive as heroin.

Prof Wayne Hall

He was formerly an NHMRC Australia Fellow in addiction neuroethics at the University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research and the University of Queensland Brain Institute (2009-2014); Professor of Public Health Policy in the School of Population Health (2005-2009); Director of the Office of Public Policy and Ethics at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience (2001-2005) at the University of Queensland; and Director of the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre at UNSW (199402001). He has advised the World Health Organization on the health effects of cannabis use; the effectiveness of drug substitution treatment; the scientific quality of the Swiss heroin trials; the contribution of illicit drug use to the global burden of disease; and the ethical implications of genetic and neuroscience research on addition.

A man in his position working with youth substance abuse, would never come out and be positive about cannabis, after all he gets paid not to.

Forget about news paper allegiances and think more about how people often accept what they read, propaganda like this is not going to be helping the cause towards, medicinal use, decriminalization or legalization. It is another step backwards, people of the UK need get behind cannabis reform, in the same way as USA citizens.
Apathy will just mean harsher laws and more demonisation of cannabis and with the court of human rights rulings being able to be over turned by prospective conservative legislation, ordinary decent citizens of the UK won't have a leg to stand on.

The thing is we can look at the report and say it is rubbish, we like cannabis and support its use, but what about the millions who don't?
It is up to the supporters of cannabis to actually support it and help educated people about the benefits of this wonderful plant and not to just poo poo newspaper headlines and leave it at that.

The UK grows vast amounts of cannabis and we consume more than quite a number of europoean countries yet we can't be arsed to do anything about it, because it is too easy to grow and smoke without worrying about getting caught.

By 2020 the government wants every home to be fitted with a smart meter for your electric, these devices will be wireless and will be able to be monitored by your electric company, yup big brother gonna see when and how much you use.

I have already been offered one of these saying having it can help you save money, I said no. There will be a point they will replace your meter and there won't be a choice.

With the new meters installed growing won't be so easy as they can monitor your usage by the minute, but I guess we will all sit on out arses until it happens and then just bitch about it.

Some people will say we can by pass meters (not something I would mess around with), but with energy in the future being monitored so closely they will be able to pin point spikes in unmonitored usage.

My basic point is, negative propaganda isn't going away in the UK and unless we stand together and show the positive side of cannabis, this country will become less tolerable to live in.

Not sure if you guys have seen this:

Nobel Prize for blue LED invention http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-29518521

The next step for led's?
I hadn't seen this, only the other day wrote in a post how I had gone to college in the the late 1980's and studied electronics and how at the time people were debating if such a thing as a blue LED was possible. At the time only red, yellow and green diodes were available and that the latest tech was a tri coloured LED which in fact contained two diodes a red and a green, when both diodes were powered it made it look like a yellow. It wasn't until 1994 that the first high brightness blue LED.

Good to hear they have been awarded this prize for their work, which in part has helped us grow our weed :D

Consider the source... a Trash paper just like our Nation Inquirer, nothing more than a rag that thrives on sensationalism. Makes you wonder why people read these rumor mongering rags, hopefully, just for a laugh.....

How else do you expect them to get their daily fix of what Kim Kardashian is wearing, and how many times Beyoncé had a bowel movement, and other such life altering info.......:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

i have an old electricity meter,i cant wait to get a smart meter.then like everybody else I will place a strong magnet on the side of the box and only pay for 1/4 of the electricity im using.
the reason why people with smart meters pay less for their lecky is because of a magnet, not because all a sudden they are using less electric.
