Anyone got some idears about decarboxylating hash/kief? Does it require any special handling? I have a feeling it would melt or get stuck to tinfoil if I tried to decarb it directly on foil in the oven... Maybe would be better on some parchment paper?
Been saving up some kief from the grinder and shaker box, and it's a rainy day, and I bought some nasty Everclear just to attempt a tincture
Will need to decarboxylate the kief first of course...
You could also winterize it with the everclear.
The end product is shatter.
Take kief, put in jar.
Pour enough everclear (ethanol) to dissolve kief into jar
Place lid on jar.and place in freezer (overnight is preferable)

particulate matter will collect on bottom and begin to gel. (you do not want this stuff)
I place 2 moistened (with h2O) natural coffee filters inside of a flat bottomed funnel, which is then placed in a flat casserole dish (pyrex is preferred)
I have a bad shake so, I siphon off the solution with a tube from the jar into my waiting filter.
If you have a steady hand you could just pour the solution off, but avoid allowing any of the particulate to contaminate your filter.
Once done, allow filter to drain. DO NOT squeeze out filter. If you want to give the filter a little bath in everclear and squeeze that out into another pyrex dish, the results will be "ok".
to be safe, cover dish with paper or parchment and allow alcohol to dissolve naturally until "gooey"
Then place in oven @ 110f-120f for 1-6 hours, giving it an occasional mix with a silicon spatula.
When this temp it will be a a honey consistency, when allowed to cool it will be come shatter or very near.
It is about as clean as you can get it without using a vacum, which intimidates many people.
The result will be very nice.
*** Alternative winterizing.

this can be done on counter top, but I do it in my freezer with its door open.
take cake mixing bowl with 250ml ISO alcohol (cheaper than ethanol)
place dry ice pellets (it doesn't take many) or a small chunk.of dry ice into mixing bowl with alcohol
now place jar with previously discussed keif/ethanol solution into mixing bowl containing iso and dry ice
I usually wait until the dry ice has dissolved form the iso.
Next, drain and strain solution as discussed above.
