Now THAT is interesting! It's got pistils already? That's one whacky plant thereone of my favorite things about growing canna is all the weird and whacky stuff ya can run into. Really makes the growing tomatoes boring hahaa
The picture is about three weeks ago. It is further along now with the new top sprouted and one node which developed another one branch.
It appears that in germination a condition existed that,whether by the shell or just the genes, part of what was to become the stem was sheared from it all but at the bottom. The sheared part held the top and it is developing slightly on its own while the main part is developing without the branching from the sheared side.
the the discoloration and damage is the original leaves damaged at birth.
Very strange plant.

I thought about that but when the bump in the middle of the stem started developing into a top I just let her run. I thought also about pruning the bottom top but curiosity won out.

Hahahah - I think somebody is having fun with them! I'm guessing english isn't their first language!
Maybe you should reply enquiring "exactly what do you mean?" lol tell them you are a customer and offended by their email.
