Arty you cunning old devil,

ya don't miss a trick do ya? The Eastern wing of Penguin Towers will be added after the Moat has been completed. It will be in the Rococo style but actually made from pre-fab sections left over from the channel tunnel. I got a great deal!

Only downside is that the new Towers will have TMS printed on the sides. And signs saying "Euro Tunnel This Way", which will be a bit misleading. But it was cheap. Like me.


The West wing is a shelter for single mums without kids. I'm all heart! There does seem to be rather a lot of coming and going (pun intended) but I get 10% and know when to keep schtum. So yes, back to the original point. What was it again ? Oh yes, you want insurance. From me ?

I remember when CD's first came out and sold for £20 an album where the same vinyl album cost £7.99. CD's were as cheap to produce as vinyl but the media companies were greedy for the extra cash, the band who made the albums still got the same amount of money from a CD sale as they did from a vinyl sale, the media company pocketed the rest.

Media companies whether they be music or film are making greater profits than they ever have done before, people only have so much money to spend and when that is gone the banks will lend you more and then people will spend to the limit of their credit allowance.

There is only so much money to spend, the media companies can't have what we don't have after all our credit is spent.

There is so much more music and film around these days compared to when I was a kid and I have spent entire weeks earnings on records in the past and had to live of beans on toast just to get by.

Downloading media in fact makes money for media companies, it is like try before you buy and we all love to buy stuff,to hold and to have in physical form plus if you look after it you can sell it in the future often at a profit if you choose wisely.

I know people who only buy Bluerays after they have downloaded and watched, after all who wants to buy something that turns out to be crap. You can't take it back to the shop and say "I want a refund" and they ask why and you say "well the film was crap & I didn't like it" they will just laugh you out the shop and you are left with what might as well be a turd and you feel you have been ripped of and there is nothing you can do about it.

I do truely believe in buying media but there is also room for a little piracy first and the Media giants know this.

One of the best things you can do when it comes to music is go see the artists live, after all why do you think U2 gave out their album to everyone for free? well because they wanted you to buy tickets to their gigs.

I guess what I am saying is don't be a total freebie leecher but also don't let the media giants F U in the A and sell you shit at rip off prices , try to find a happy medium.

I lived in a town that is now dead thanks to people downloading free music. The entire town relied on Capital/ EMI. Now its a ghost town thanks to torrents.

I hear what you say Bromeo, but can you lay that all at the feet of torrents. I know for certain that 9/10 of my pals would not know how to torrent if their lives depended on it. I would say it is more to do with cd/dvd copying, Itunes and Google Play.
My guess is that the entire town has been replaced by two or three web servers that do the job that the town used to do. EMI et al still make mega bucks. So do the big artists.

I could be wrong, it is just my thoughts on the subject. Either way, big music companies are still alive n kicking. So are the bands. Your home town, sadly not. My home town community was crushed by coal pit closures. So I know how you feel. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Heck it stinks. But the rich keep getting richer and .......etc

Just my 2cents. Overall, the film industry has been playing it safe for the past 10 or so years by remaking old tried and true films that made money. It's the independents that have been more creative and daring and are more deserving of our cash. They have done the same with music in a smaller way. Still a lot of originality there but many still go back to oldies to reboot a sagging career. Profiting off others creations.

The way the media giants are interfering in politics through their news subsidiaries. It's probably our duty to rat-fook them any time we can.

Yup, it's tough to have to settle for smoking/vaping great weed. But somebody has to do it.
I can see instances where it has advantages. No odor, great, almost mystic high the one toke I've had of it. But I coughed for an hour+ non stop and swore never again unless there was an oxygen bottle right there. The apparatus looked like a complicated glass trumpet and required quite a ritual of heating with a torch then dropping a spike.
I agree with you Anth on the foolishness of the inexperienced trying to cook their own in spite of all the highly publicized carnage.

I'm sure there are plenty of us here that remember the time before the Internet and time of cassette tapes.

Everybody had copies of other peoples albums and everybody made mix tapes and I'm guessing there are a fair few people that would sit next to the radio on a Sunday evening with their finger hovering over pause ready for the end and start of each track so as to cut out the DJ.

Piracy of music has been around for ages but people still makes millions of pounds in the music game, not everyone is destined to be a star, one problem with the internet is everybody can be exposed to the world .

There are just too many people who want to be famous and rich, which is devaluing some very talented people due to the immense tide of crud watering everything down.

There is only so much money to go round, once rent/mortgage, food, utilities etc are paid we end up with some for leisure if we're lucky and we spend it on cinema, music, dvd's, consoles & the games for the consoles and we all have to have the latest phone and call plan, plus internet downloads from itunes & there are streaming sites such as netflix & spotify etc.

People are shelling out hand over fist to have the latest media.

Disney are the biggest media company in the World and are ranked 48th in the worlds top 500 companies absolutely colossal amounts of money in the bank and Disney Land aint closing anytime soon.

One problem when a town has only one major employer, it is like putting all your money on one horse and if that horse stumbles everyone is screwed, the thing is some times companies make mistakes.

Take Tesco they have become the worlds largest food retailer and it all started in a little shop in the UK and grew and grew and grew and now it is having to close 43 superstore and cancel another 50 superstores it planned to build and that in the UK alone and the UK is not a big place.

No one can say these closures are because people are making and growing their own food, no of course not,they are just buying elsewhere it is a market economy and people like to shop around especially when time are tough.

The same happens in the media market. There a lot of money going around but everyone wants a slice of the pie and some players gonna get the big bits and some just the crumbs.

If you want to stop real piracy deal with the banks who are robbing billions and foreclosing on businesses and mortgaes.

I spend £80 on various media every single month, I have crates of vinyl & DVD's & I don't really see anything wrong with downloading something and seeing if it is worth buying before you buy it. If something is shit and they think they can dupe me in to buying shit they can suck my balls, I also have Netflix.
