Hi there, I've been pretty much living on this site since I discovered it about a week ago. It seems the more I read the more I confuse myself. Tell you where I'm at. I have total access to 8x8x7 grow tent with a carbon filter, two 1000 watt Apollo HPS, and the intake and exhaust all set up. This is way more than I need to start, so I'm thinking of working a 4x4 corner to begin with. Thinking about using T5's thru all stages of growth, and using Sea Grow nutes so there's less mixing to deal with. Well what do you think? Am I on the right track? Should I do something different?

I do think you are on the right track Capt.

I would use (1) HPS in the corner. I would expect better production that way. As long as you can.

You can use the T5's for sprouting, then after about the fourth set of leaves, I would go HPS

My opinion, everything else looks decent.

Thanks Bud for the response and input. Just figured out that the two 1000 watter's are dimmable down to 50% and on a moving track system. So if I start under T5's (How many and what wattage would you use for a 4x4 area) and at what point would you go to the HPS and what wattage. Also any suggestions on a easy medium I could get at Loews?

I'm an LED guy so I can't advise on the lighting except to say that I usually see T5's in a complimentary roll
as side lighting.

I will say that I would not get my medium at Lowe's...I would go to a hydro shop for that.

Do you have a game plan for generally what medium you are after? Soil, Coco, etc.?

Actually, Lowes and Home Depot has the best deal on Sunshine Mix #4 aggregate, which IMO is just as good as Promox hp. If they have it in stock. It is a soil less medium and runs 6.8-7.0ph right out of the bag. Good stuff and a good price. The only down side is it is a 3.8cf bail, but the price is going to be cheaper than going to a grow store. Throw in a bit of myco and you are golden!

Nice! I didn't know they were carrying Sunshine #4

I happily stand corrected! Thanks, Bri!

As a soiless, is it advised to operate in the "coco" pH range? i.e. 5.6 - 5.9 (aprox)?

I ran it at 6.5 with out problems, until late in flower, but that was my fault, not enough P in my feeds. But running 6.3 was a good range on it. There is no nute charge in it, so you have to give the plants a very small feed at about 7 days, but a good solid soil less medium!

If I were to run it again, I'd go 6.3 feed all the way through. I would also pot it up, hit it with a couple scoops of myco in plain tap water and run a bit through it and let it sit for a few days, before dropping a bean in it. Most other Shishines have added myco, but this does not.

Cool! Sounds like a good option for the BossCapt. :)

Thanks Eekman, After the four sets, how many watts, the 1000 will adjust down to 500
