ok so im thinkng about doing 6-10 plants to start my grow room off....havent purchased my lighting yet...I was thinking about going with a 4 bulb 54watt T5 lamp that produces 5,000 lumens per bulb...thats 20,000 lumens...think this would be a good set up? or should I just go with 2 or 400watt HPS bulbs? is either setup enough light for 6-10 plants in 3 gallon pots? give a newbie sum advice please & thanks!

Hi Poohman84,,,what is ur grow room size? If u think a 600watt HPS will easyly cover a 1.2mx1.2m square even a 400watt HPS would do in an area the same,,u should get 9 gd plants in there with ur 3gallon pots. The T5 lights are great for keepin mother plants under or usin them for propergatin & veg stage but i would use the HPS for flowering. Hope this helps a bit,& u get growin soon,,ar u plannin on usin Auto's? :smokebuds:

That t5 will not cover enough area for six to nine plants. You would have to get two 8bulb four foot t5s to cover that many plants.

That lone 4 foot 4 bulb T5 can handle 3 plants max in 3 gallon pots-i have one of those with 3 medium sized plants under it right now. You got to give them a little space in between pots to bush out some.3 plants space out take up the 4 foot length and the plants are bushy enuf to take up the width in single file. With t5's you gotta keep the lights close to the top to get max use out of them so you pretty much just get the lights dimensions as a light footprint.Hope that helps.
