Outdoor outdoor bug preventative

I've had spider mite problems outdoors and have found that weekly treatments with insecticidal soap works very good as a preventative. I've also been told that planting garlic in your pots along with your mj plants will keep a lot of pests away. I've not tried this myself, but did get the information from an old time outdoor grower who swore by it.

Mites are the worst. There are different types of them with varying degrees of resilience. Have you considered beneficial insects? Whenever I grow outdoors I like to use mosquito netting to enclose my girls and release several hundred ladybugs and a few praying mantis into their environment. I haven't had a mite outbreak yet, so I don't know if it will be effective after they have already taken hold.

awesome i might try the bayer stuff i founf it online for 20$$ not bad where did you purchase yours from scarhole? and how often did you add that to your feedings?

For that one "synthetic" tobacco insectaside why not just use the real thing?? Go pick up a tin of cheap chewing tobacco (mint or winter green could also be a plus) and mix it up with some water, lets say 1 gallon and use a spray bottle to apply. Why go synthetic if you can have the real deal?

yea idk much about tobacoo except it was a b**** to quit cigarettes. i wonder if my plants would have stress withdrawals like us humans do.?

Spider Mites: Take some habanero peppers (a decent sized handful that have been chopped finely) then simmer them (DON'T BOIL) for about 20 minutes. Let cool, strain through a seive then use as a spray on your plants. Note: it won't hurt the plants at all but it will quickly kill all the mites. I've tried this and know that it works. Keep the sprayer in your fridge, its good for about 2 months. Note: when spraying USE A MASK and GOGGLES this stuff is extremely toxic.

Here's my two cents:
Nicotine: prevents aphid species and some caterpillar species. Add about 10-30 grams of tobacco to 1 litre of water. Let this boil for 10 minutes (yes! boil!) so you don't spread TMV onto your plants. This can be used as a mist or spray. Nicotine is toxic, but will easily be washed off by rain. Most insects have become resistant though, thanks to, who would've thought? Yes, Bayer. Another monopoly established.
Neem oil: add a teaspoon of oil to 2 litres of warm water. Add some biological soap as emulgator (dissolves the oil into the water). Use this as a spray. This'll help againt spider mite, thrips and aphids (allround spray).
Garlic: press about 5 cloves of garlic into a litre of water. Use this as a spray against lice/aphids.

Other ways are to plant some helpfull plants like garlic and tobacco, which act as a natural deterrent by chemical messaging.

Also I've read about some indians (those from India) who are using Pepsi. Don't know if that works though, but I'll give it a try whenever infestation time's here.
