Reduce Mega Crop during bloom or not?

You cite decreasing nute concentrations as bloom progresses. I keep constant base nutes. But don't many or even most, including some top AFN growers, generally increase nutes, 'push' their plants, in mid or late bloom?

And then there is the common debate about nutes or not, how much, in the very last weeks. I seen no reason or logic in cutting nutes when the plant is likely working hardest at resin production.

He is referring to a common issue with GLN base nutes that when bloom happens their calculator has one increasing Mega Crop, their base nutrients, but several of us minor AFN growers have found we need to actually decrease their base nutes a little or risk burning your plants. This is something I have experienced and several other grow journals show the same. I made it to 5 grams per gallon with my last two grows but had to back off to 4 grams per gallon to avoid burning the plants, while their calculator says to push on to 6 grams per gallon. I want to see this strain that can take 6 grams per gallon, it has to be a monster plant.

I gave up to 5.5g MC per gallon. My unit of measurement is 1.46g per litre. Also gave up to 0.5g per litre SC. Which is 1.89g per gallon.

No tip burns but i just felt I don't need to go further and they are already starting to flower. One of three plants could use another week of veg nutes so that one could go up to 6g per gallon but i was lazy to make her a special jug.

I'm probably the only one here using Mother Monarch Bloom as a PK. Started at 0.15g per litre and after 3-4 feeds, have increased to 0.2g per litre. MC was reduced to 1g per litre which is 3.78g per gallon. SC remained at around 0.45 to 0.5g per litre. Still no burns and if anything, I feel MC makes my girls flower faster. Probably also cos I did not increase but decreased MC dosage upon flowering.

After around week 5, I had to water every 2 days. So I'm a little worried the soil i grow in will get too hot? Or mess with PH?

This is my first grow with @GreenleafNutrients product line. Would be great to get some feedback on how I'm doing?

But I didn't get any tip burn Hemi. Maybe I was close and if I pushed a little more I'd see it in the leaves. What I was noticing was an extended preflower stretch where once I thought the stretch was done the MC was increased as per the calculator and I started boost PK with Bud Explosion then the plants just continued to slowly stretch now. And bud development was very slow. That is what I noticed, not tip burn.

I have reloaded the reservoirs with lower MC, increased BE and the same amount of calmagpro. Hoping to see a positive difference in the next day or so.

I hadn’t noticed the “extended preflower stretch“ but did start to see tip burn at 5gpg. Of course, I’m not sure I would have noticed with my method of growing. Have backed way off now but you can still see the affects in these pictures taken under normal lighting.i hope your girls react well to your changes.

Last grow, I needed CalMag rather early on.

The difference is I added a handful of garden lime to each pot and Megacrop. However, many growers that add garden lime still needs CalMag. So I'm leaning towards MC's extra CalMag content.

If results are different for different growers, it probably means some other factors are causing it. Probably best to dial it in yourself and own it.

I feel its a good nute with my limited experience. Just need to trial and error a little to make it work for your environment/conditions.

Following nute pushers' recommendations fried my plants.
Even half could be too much if following the VPD chart, which maximizes healthy nute uptake.
Happy plants don't need much food.
We're growing a plant, not force-feeding ducks to make foie gras out of their engorged livers.

I've learned to taper off on the nutes when the vertical growth is finished, because they just don't need much thereafter.
To me this makes sense because nutes needed should be directly proportional to plant mass added by growth

I think you are right. About it being other factors too. Along with too much N from MC and/or CalMagPro. I increased the acidity (reduced PH) in my res too and will be monitoring PH in the coco/peat medium using my control wizards ph probe. Hoping I can tweak all these variables and dial in a better flower growth.

This is what gets me. Why do the nute companies have calculators that do the opposite?

My climate is dry and I have to run a humidifier during veg. During veg/growth I pretty much keep my VPD value in the sweet spot. And I use autopots and have been wondering if the plants will wick up water/feed from the tray when they are hungry or thirsty. Or both. But I figured when I follow VPD the plants will regulate how much they need by how much they wick from the trays. Not sure if this autopot plant self feeding itself approach is better than manual watering because manual feeds might be more like force feeding too much.

Especially Cal/Mag Plus - which is generally 2-0-0 where just plain Cal/Mag is 0-0-0.

CM+ can cause your ph level to drop, always check your ph after using CM+. A valuable lesson learned a few summers ago for me. After that one time, I mixed CM+ with only Compost Tea when applying.

I think your issue is with the CalMag you are using, you realize that boosts a ton of nitrogen?
