Is it just me or are dark plants often more resinous?

Yes sir, I'll second that notion. I've read before that the resin is created to protect the bud/flowers from cold so that it won't frost/screw up. During veg the plant hasn't matured enough yet to warrant the use of resin, kind of like puberty I guess? Haha.

i was just sitting here thinking the exact same thing, the key must lie in the evergreen plants


im thinking along the lines of it having to do with the plants ability to utilize sugars in cold temps


afterall resin production is highest when the plant gets least light, isnt resin production highest at night and at the end of flowering? That does not correspond with the uv theory to me

the uv defplays a role...but rather in amplificationof light through the tirchomes..

I was wondering this too. If it was purely to protect the plant why even bother with the psycho active compounds? What if the plant is producing CBD's because most animals have a cannibinoid system used for hunger control? If you are a plant that uses animals to pass your seed, would it not be a benefit to the plant to make the animals hungry for more?

Almost like a symbiotic type relationship. I'll help you if you help me. In most cases where that happens both organisms give some thing to one another.

Or you could go the other way with it. The compounds are to deter animals from eating it because it makes you high. The smells also... How many animals are going to munch on anything that smells like rotting skunks? Or baby poo? But then you have smells like fruit, nuts.. ect...

I think it might be more a defense/survival mechanism.

Too much in here to just single out really but i see what you mean. When you say that i think about Wiz's dog and my cat. they only eats certain plants and then leaves the others alone. I think that there is something to that, and the thing is she is really drawn to the dragon for what ever reason.
so i could see it being both as well.

I thought that 100 pct landraces such as afghan and hashplants come from regions where the light is super intense I thought resin production was to help with intense light thats why they give off a different light and helicoptors can spot them easily. Im confused is all.. weird. Doesnt seem like trichs could help defrost or keep the plant form frosting SINCE you freeze and use cold water to break off trichs wouldnt cold weather KILL trichs and since they died new ones form? Just my 2 cents
