Ps , Good to see the organic thread growing , Now I have ta tell ya I am just stating along this amazing path . Do I know what I am doing narr , But the input from you guys has helped me heaps , :worship:

Here's some comparisons. These were started same time.

Whole rolled oats on the left, ground jasmine rice on the right. Applied molasses, water mycos (store-bought) and Recharge.

On the left is ground up rolled oats, on the right and way ahead in quality and quantity is ground up malted barley from the homebrew supply.

Awesome @Jraven it only last week I went to town to look for malted barley , but no can get in town , things like that can be a bit of a problem when you live in small places , but oats I can get and that is what I use . Have you tried to inoculate with IMO around you , that is what I am doing . Going by where you live there must be heaps around .:vibe:

I'm still using my supply of store bought tiny guys, but I'll be hunting up some locals as spring progresses.
I assume the malted barley worked well because of the starches being converted to sugar in the malting process...sure made a luxuriant growth. That's one of those things I stock up on when we make our annual trip to the big city(Seattle). Same with all those soil amendments..it's hard to resist all those pretty boxes. But yep I'm working on using more local stuff.:cooldance:

Well this is awesome , maybe the best way yet , I have been mucking around for the best out come to grow microbes and this is by far the best yet , So what did I use , something every one can get --- chopped banana skins -- I let them sit in a bag till they where black and soft then just chopped them up and added oats on top and placed under a bamboo plant outside . So microbes easy to get -cost $1.20 a bag for oats -- [ goes a long way ] -- Lactobacillus another easy one to make -- cost around $6.00 to make , [ also goes along way ] --- Now next -- Fish Hydrolysate -- Will be starting this when I get home from work today .

This corner is where I pulled some aside , it was covered too .

So I had no idea about microbes or organic growing up until a few weeks ago. I was also wondering how to create microbes. After I brewed a compost tea with mostly EWC malted barley recharge I took the used tea bag and laid it under the tarp on top of the compost pile. After 3 days I checked it to find a big fluffy white ball that no longer resembled the used tea bag cake. Pretty cool! So many cheap options for organic growing versus expensive ferts.
