First grow in this field..have tended to pineapples and grapes mostly. Will share some journal with you, feel free to leave opinions on the setup, plants, etc

2x4x5 ds120w jardin
area 51 xgs 190w
think different x3
Mountain air 6" filter
vortex 4" inline fan
4" ducting
Passive intakes

Air Pots x3
FFOF & Nutes (big bloom, grow big, tiger bloom)
distilled water

Do I need more light? My goal is 2oz/plant. Are my standards set too high for my first rodeo? Guide me along this journey..

Will throw up pictures, leave feedback1!!

Would a 2nd panel double(increase sufficiently to cover the cost) my yield? With only 2.5x2.5 recomended flowering coverage from my light, I'm wondering if I should throw in some cfl's or t5s. Or hell, splurge on a second led panel.

Or maybe let it rest and see how far my 190w will take me on my first trip..

I felt like I planted my germinates a little too deep. So I helped them out a bit with some light soil messaging. And left some airy soil ontop.

Day 2ish, I have a runt. Looks to be light nute burn maybe from the FF soil. Just going to let it grow itself out of it for now..

1st week I have planned a 24/0 light schedule. No nutes til maybe week 4-6. Second week and onward will be 20/4. Only on half power right now per area 51 online instruction.

During the heat of the daytime, the tent is around 82-85 F, 40-50% humidity. Less at night ofc. Those numbers sound okay? [readings are coming from top of air pot, see pic]

Hi bacon. Is that a LED with white light? I'm not sure about the hight temp I don't have that problem. lol

I would do the first grow with the one light and decide if you need on other after. For a standard LED unit I would usually advise you needing 350-400w in that area but I've never seen the Area 51 light used so I'm very interested to see how it performs.

ty Tang, solid advice^ ...I will stick to 1 panel this run. Hopefully I can do the light justice! And maybe it will reward me enough to buy another!

I'm interested in this light too can't wait to see how it preforms. Is that all the LEDs or is there a bloom switch? How close is your light? 30"+ might be a good range for starting seedlings. The funky one might be the light intensity and not the soil. Just speculating n such. :peace:

Eventually, you'll want about 30-50w per square foot with led's which is 187.5w-312.5w. However, those are ACTUAL watts. Most LED units only use about 50%-60% of their advertised power. That means you'd want (as advertised) 375w-625w.

Day 3
Today I watered and made some very minor tweaks to square the light up with the seedlings better.

This Area 51 light [advertised as 190 actual watts] just has 2 switches, half power and full power. Currently at ~18" above with the light at half power.

Shall I bump it up to full power at 30"?
LOL after writing this I reread your post and went back to the manufacturer's notes. I Misread them! I noticed some curling today as well, thank you Torched for putting me in check before it got worse !!

We recommend 30" above seedlings in 100w mode, 20"-30" above vegging plants in 100w mode, and then 18"-24" above flowering plants in 195w mode.

Coverage: Minimum 24" x 32" ; Maximum 39" x 39" ; Recommended 32" x 32"
We recommend that you try to stay close to 32"x32" as possible.

The light is now 30" above seedlings

P.S. first setup pic was kinda of a mock-up. Or I think I was trying to coax the seeds to sprout since I planted too deep.
