loaded up nicely, all that resin looks like a heavy hit....
Hi @trailanimal I hope to get the same resin cover taste and high in the backcross project to preserve this nice cut in a real regular cultivar.loaded up nicely, all that resin looks like a heavy hit....
I'm a strict seed to seed breeder . I never use cuts or backcross any of my strains. I use a "landrce" approach, carefully select plants from seed to make new generations. Sorry I can't help on this one mate.Hi friends, at first I was very busy the last week's and not so much online... sorry for this.
Now a little update to the BlueCandy 2.0 project.
I found one girl in the bx1 that got nearly the same smell like the original cut. The other girls got a more sweet smell. The male I selected got the same smell ( steam rub) like the original cut . I smoked some male flowers to and the taste are definitely there.
The main difference cut to bx1 is the structure of the plant. The original got satellite buds, the bx1 got buds that are more symmetrical ( I don't know if it's the right word) you can see it in the picture's.

I received the original runtz cut because the special flavour comes from the runtz, so if the bx2 didn't hold the special flavour I will cross them to the original runtz. I have done some tests with the runtz to see how they act in crosses and I got a good feeling I am on the right way.

I got a small question :
What are your experiences with backcrosses and stabilisation from a original cut?
What do you favourite satellite buds or a symmetric bud structure?
Have a nice day you all

Thanks for your reply, I will post my experience in this thread.Hi Tobe,
I personally haven't done any backcrosses, unfortunately I won't be much help on that.
Thanks my friend for your feedback, you are right yield terps are the most important traits.Depending on the genetics and on your goal of your BX's I think there are lot of different outcomes with what can happen.
Backcrosses are a good way to possibly get some more traits of one of your original parents locked in the line. However, it all comes down to testing/checking/seeing what comes out. The whole biological story with alleles and creating homozygous/heterozygous traits is an interesting and extensive topic in breeding and one which is the baseline of your question. In my opinion it is best to read up about this.
Stabilizing what exactly? Everything takes time and effort ofc.
Regarding favorite bud structure, it depends on the genetics in my opinion.
With sattelite buds you mean some foxtails?
An 'Indica' strain I prefer to see very compact/round nuggets, with a Sativa preferably a more open/foxtail structure (hopefully a bit compact though, not fluffy). And everything in between with the Hybrid buds. For me in general the structure is a bit less important, as long as it yields, potency and terps are most important. I want grade A-bangers that smell and smoke great.
Good luck with your journey and making BX's mate!
