Hello,

Firstly thanks for this great forum it is really helpful.

I'm building my new box and I was goign to use 3 pin plug bulb holders in a 6 socket extension lead in my box. However the chinese crap parts I have had delivered do not work :(

Question time...

Can I just wire them to a plug and run the 5-6 30w CFL's off one plug, using mounting holders like below or similar?

Presumably I'd just have to daisy chain the live, neutral and earth cables to the plug in sequence, and make sure I had the right fuse in the plug?

I want this to be safe for obvious reasons, the only thing I want to be burning is bud at the end of my grow - not the house down.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

hi and Welcome Hasty
yes mate you can if you use .75mm 2 core flex to link them together then a 1mm 3 core flex from the first one to the plug and use the earth from that to earth the shade or what ever you are using to fix the lamp holders to ( if it`s metal )

like this?

I will be running 5-6 30w cfls like this? Would I need to change the fuse in the plug?

no mate the way to work it out is Watts divided by volts = amps ( 180/230 = 0.78 amps ) so a 3amp fuse is more than enough
hope this helps
