Got 75*75*75*200 tent with 250w HP's. Toying with idea of replacing with either a 150w Mars hydro reflector or a 300w older style (no reflector or bloom switch). Both are same price on ebay at roughly £80.

Any advice would be appreciated. I presume the reflector is a newer model but would it be powerful enough even with the reflectors. Any advantages of one over the other?

As the models labelled 150W and 300W really only draw around 90W and 180W, you may get away with using the 300W (180W) model, but the smaller reflector model is imo. way too weak.

I do like their reflector lights though, and have 3 of the 300W (180W) models myself, and very happy with them.

I like the reflector series myself. its a more balanced spectrum imho. and the bloom switch is a nice touch. check out Tina in the AFN Market section. you might be able to get a discount and if you order direct from mars-hydro you get a 3 year warranty instead of a 1 year like you get from ebay or amazon sellers. and I think you can use the code "MRTIGHT" for 3% off

Thanks elsamurai. I think your probably right and the small panel reflector will not be enough. I thought about getting one and saving for another but prob not a good idea. So I thought double panel reflector which I love the look off and as you say has the switches. But then again the 5w panel is not a lot more. Had as quick chat with Tina from Mars and she recomended the 5w which confused things cause I like the look of the reflectors lol. I know it's silly. However I think I am correct in saying that a 5w reflector may be out soon. Only way I think I will decide is if I get the most recent one I can afford or hope the old reflectors will drop in price. No second had ones on eBay :(

i'm real happy with mine. I have the 96x3 reflector, said to pull 180 -200 true watts. the 5w are nice too, just didn't fit my tent dimensions. if the mars2 and sun take off reflectors may drop in price.

Still not sure. Mars reflector 96*3watt 200watt real draw or Mars 2 400watt (80*5watt) also 200 real draw. Not much dif in price.
Can get a 300watt real draw viper (reflector with mix of 3 and 5 watt chips) same sort of price. Keep going in circles

Link the viper to me or send it in a message or something Ill check it out and let you know what i think.

Hi chuck 1718. Thanks for the reply. Don't know how to insert a link :( The viper is the c500. On the website viparled.co.UK they have the c400 and c600. The c500 I can only find on eBay. Hope this helps..
