Harvest & Curing Will buds dry in 80% humidity?

Just checked my humidity and it is at 80% and it is currently raining, yesterday it was 75%. When I buy dry bud and bring it back if I leave it out in the air for an hour it will become wet again even if the bud is over dry and crispy. I will need to dry some bud In the next 2 weeks and will be using the paper bag method will my buds dry because they are in a paperbag? Or should I lower the humidity? Has anyone any tips for lowering the humidity without a dehumidifier?

You can put desiccant packs in the bags ... never done it ... you're wise to seek suggestions 'cause you have a tricky task ahead of you ... I would probably strip the plant and hang it whole in a room w/ plenty of ventilation and possibly a fan blowing gently on the plants ... Good luck ...

Definitely, don't put wet weed in a paper bag where there is no real humidity differential (where the outer air is also humid/wet)! At that humidity, I presume you need constant air flow, constant minimal drying on the surface, to prevent mold from taking over.

If you're going to use paper bags, you need to lower the room/tent humidity. Air conditioners and dehumidifiers are obvious options.

Sealing it up with desiccant combined with close monitoring with hygrometers is another good option (after basic room climate control).

If things go bad, if mold starts, and you don't want to try to avoid chemicals, you might try using a hair dryer to just warm and dry (partially sterilize) the surface of buds enough to stop any spread. If human hair and skin can easily tolerate a hair drier, not get dried out, much larger harvested buds surely can (and the wimpy heating of a hair drier is not going to melt any trichomes or otherwise degrade the buds). Just don't overdo it.

Otherwise, longer-term heated air flowing over the buds, such as a space heater, will also dry them, but that's could be more risky.

I have read hanging the full plant can take between 2-4 weeks and I am on a tight schedule so I cannot take that long to dry,, I am on a tight budget so cannot get a dehumidifier at the moment and also I don't have air conditioning I also only want to do the paperbag method as I need bud that smells nice in my previous harvests I always end up with no smell and this is from hanging branches so I don't want to hang anything up, I read online I can reduce humidity with salt in a bucket what % should my humidity be to use paper bags?

The Bag method is used to slow down the drying process ... if your RH is genuinely over 60% you don't need to slow it down you need to speed it up ... your plant is a beauty and worth drying right ... for me the secret to smooth weed and good smell and taste is taking at least 7 days from harvest until weed is mid 60's rh ... at mid 60's rh is when I jar and begin the burping process ... in your situation if I had room to hang it in the dark w/o being closed up (needs ventilation) I would strip off all but the buds and hang it with a fan slowly circulating the air ... as the days passed you could speed drying by air exchange and more direct fan action ... if I did not have room to hang I would get 4-6 med sized packing boxes and arrange as in the photo below ... keep boxes in dark room w/ tops uncovered and air moving .... can start out faster air when they are freshly harvested and then slower as they near mid 60's rh ... each box holds about a dozen branches ... once dry enough you could then bag depending on your actual humidity ...

I had a rain for like a week or better while i was trying to dry my buds.SUUX!! but,it can be done.,however imho hanging is the best.but agin thats my opinion and if you essentially open it up to the air with 70+% RH at temps around 75 degrees F. you can get a cpl of damp rid smaller buckets that help if you decide to close them up and they didnt mess with my meds although they werent used the full time.yet if you can put a small fan saaay 4-6 inch fan nothing special nothing over powerful unless it a rather large plant but an average auto is usually speaking the right size..its about air moving at a fair clip.the end MIGHT(and i mean might) get lightly crispy but that'll be essentially be the most of it till several day later.I was able to get mine dried in roughly about a week plus a cpl extra days.but in anoither i didnt use the damp rid and left my small cabinet i use for drying open about half way and a small fan a cpl feet away pushing a constant air in at high RH and again watch for molds in both situations an as well, they both dried right about the same time and were both quality.yet i did have to burp them a bit longer once i cut them in the jars since the high Rh will keep the inside near the main stem more moist than you'll realize..so dry accordingly.hope that helps.Id imagine small bud clipped as in the bag style of drying would be a lil better in this situation possibly.and only to speed it up a few days with that high RH and again ,molds n things..L8r dude,.happy smoking

I want my bud to smell and taste nice and I don't know about smell with freeze drying but have been told it will taste of chlorophyl

Ive found the freezer cure works good if you let it hang dry for 5 days prior. Though, Im not sure that would be wize in this case. Perhaps with a fan on low blowing around them, while they are hang drying. I dont have experience in high humidity drying, but the jamaicans hang dry in humid conditions.

either way I believe your best bet is the freezer.
