New Grower Worst-grower-ever tries Trans Siberian, Afghan Kush Ryder, and Northern Lights Blue Auto ;D

If it is hard, I would say, yes some sort of salt build up.
More pics will be helpful.

It's probably not this, but I have seen soil roots smothered in little white chalky crystals from watering with really hard well water. Just mentioned it because it was really strange when I saw it lol, like wtf?

Really hard to get a good picture of....

I cannot find any other pics on the internet that look like this stuff.

It was on the hydroton in much larger amounts until I cleaned it off a couple days ago. I didn't notice it on the roots until today.

The stuff is soft, slimy and fuzzy looking, so I am leaning toward a fungus...

I am already using beneficial bacteria, and it's not working, so maybe a flush or some h202? I have never used h202 before... My temps and humidity inside the grow room seem good, Humidity is under 40% (which for flowering I think is OK), and temps go between 78-84max F

The only thing I did that I feel questionable about is having a river running over the rockwool... I didn't have a drip ring to recirc so I just let the water flow into the net pot... like 180 gallons per hour river...

I think it's possible that this was fucking up the PH... not sure...

I welcome any ideas!

Grey Bear, thanks again for stopping by and checking it out. If you weren't around to look at my grow once in a while I would be fucked!!!! Truly appreciated!

Soft and slimy huh? Hmm, think it could be a myco perhaps? If it's not hard and crystalline, or hard limescale type chalk like I mentioned finding once, and the leaves seem ok, then it's probably an okay symbiotic :) edit: don't listen to me lol, I'll leave ya to the experts lol :)

I took off the paper plate cover on the AKR and look what is on there!!!!

Just to be clear the white stuff on the akr is the same as the stuff on the other one, but the best picture I could get off it was on the akr... Still not entirely sure if it's fungus or what...

I think it is some sort of mycelium (mushroom)
Leave the hydroton exposed and it will most likely die,
But you want to be careful about trying to kill it all at once, as the decay can adversely effect your ph.
You could give it a good sprayer rinse also

Thanks man! I literally just asked in the help thread as well...

Do you think H202 is necessary? The stuff actually comes off fairly easy, but it seems to grow back as well. I have been fighting it off here and there, but recently it actually became noticeable on the roots, hence the panic.

Also... how could I like... prevent this lol o_o

I really wanna have better grows, and I'm not sure how I caused this problem for myself... I am sure I did... I just don't know how lol ;D

Thanks again man for all the help!

EDIT: It's not actually coming off super easy. Even with some intense sprayer action.

I am going to try again tomorrow... She has actually outgrown the doorway size of her grow space... So... Yeah I will have to figure a way to get her out without messing her up or figure out a better way to get a sprayer going in there to get at all of it if possible.

So I have been reading a bit more about mold on hydroton, and it seems to happen when you allow dead leaf matter and etc. into the net pot. (Generally not keeping the net pot clean).

I have definitely been guilty of that... Next time I will keep that hydroton vacuumed and clean as part of my rez changes.

Dang man I have been growing in DWC for a long time and I have never seen that, like everyone has said based on desription it seems to be some sort of fungi type mycilum. I would try and treat with h202 and if it doesnt work then it most likely is some sort of fungi and you might want to look into some sort of fungicide. I really hope you get this figured out cause it doesnt look good. Sending mad grow karma your way my friend
