New Grower Worst-grower-ever tries Trans Siberian, Afghan Kush Ryder, and Northern Lights Blue Auto ;D

Dudes...

I am frustrated.

The dry weight on the AKR was right where I predicted < 14g (10g total). If I put hours into grams it would probably something like 10 hours a gram of work. Def better off buying from the dealer with those numbers.

I chopped the TS yesterday as she was 25%amber and no more white pistils.

She has already lost so much weight after hang drying for a day it is severely depressing. I am fairly sure she will be about 1.5 ounces, which when grown under an LED whose actual draw is around 120 watts, well that is terrible.

I honestly dunno what to do. I am severely confused by these LED's. These things are so finicky for me. At least with flouros I never saw my leaves incinerate because of a little plant sweat. Maybe I should just risk getting FLIR'ed and use a damn HPS.

I will probably post pics and a dry weight of the TS on Friday, but I have gotten pretty good at spotting shitty yields hahaha. It will be about where I said 1.5 zips of some fluffy airy buds that maybe could qualify as mids.

I'm burnt out on super long grow periods with shotty yields. That TS took more than 110 days....

What do you guys think?

Should I switch to photo period plants?
Should I switch to CFLS or HID?
Should I just stop trying to grow these things altogether because I am stressing everyone out with my inability to do so?

Hi there animatey, well first off I just want to say that I have only been growing for about 2 years and with autos I am only on my third run which after reading lots of posts on this forum I understand makes me a bonafide noob. Anyway I still want to give my 2c after reading through this grow journal and your most recent post. I wanted to say I seriously doubt ANYBODY on here is stressed from trying to help you, after all I really value journals that show up lots of problems because they are often the ones I learn the most from. Also I wanted to add that for my most recent run I have found that going completely organic with soil using self watering pots means the time I need to spend looking after the plants is probably 10 mins at most a day. Just a 5min check in the morning and afternoon to see who needs a water top up in the reservoir and if there are any deficiencies showing that need addressing. So my noob advice is try self watering pots -a simple wicking system - caveman hydroponics someone said, LOL and go completely organic and you may find it much simpler and timesaving. I dont spend time trying to correct PH, and I understand flush is not necessary with organics and soil so yeah. Oh and I am using an LED too. So keep up the good work and dont give up on the LED.

Dude, I'm not gonna even start about negative stuff because I think you did awesome!!!! Congrats on at least a harvest!!!! A lot of guys don't even make it this far and the fact that you stuck it out with all of the problems and such should give you the confidence to do it again but with the wisdom earned from the first!!! And so you know, my AKR is puny and I don't see it getting much bigger so I doubt it's your skills.. I think you should try some more autos and see if you can find some faster finishers.. Between that and trying to go perpetual may help mitigate any meds shortage you may have between harvests..

Post up your tally and final pics.
You stuck it out through some real issues and that shows you can do it.

Don't get discouraged. It can take a while to get things worked out as everyone's environment parameters and habits are different.

I am not overly concerned with the metaphysical, but the universe has a way of keeping us humble at times.

Stick with one method for several grows. You will work out the kinks of growing with a bit more experience each time.
I am not sure how much yield you are after per grow, but many autoflower descriptions state 50-60g avg. You will get there.

And a major part of the AFN mission is to do exactly what was done on this thread.
You had some problems and were able to be walked through them to a reasonable end.

Now hopefully, you give everything in your grow area a good cleaning and go for it again.
Post up a new journal and give me a heads up, I will be subbed and offer encouragement and advice if you need it.

don't get discouraged my first grow produced 8 grams. my second grow produced 84 grams. growing is an art that takes time to learn. learn from your mistakes and ask lots of questions. you will learn in time and be glad you stuck with it.with any light you need to fine strains that grow well under them.I grow a strain that does very well under fluorescent but did not do well under leds in these forums you will learn about strains and growing style that work well with the lights you have and a lot of people that will be happy to help you. just stick with it and you will be rewarded in time

Hey man thanks for stopping by, and the kind words!

I am actually leaning more toward going fully synthetic. I had a beneficial bacteria go bad on me, and I am too worried about bugs on my plants to do soil...

I def appreciate the idea though, and thanks again for the encouragement ;D !!!

Hey man thanks for the encouragement ;D

I am going to look into some faster finishers... Currently I have 3 la diva seeds that seem like they might work for a super novice like me.

I am wondering though if I should grow a photoperiod in my main 2x2x4.5 space. In my 2 1x1x4.5 spaces I am thinking autos for sure.

Hey GB, Thanks for stopping by man! My grow would never have finished if you hadn't stepped in to help me at least a couple times ;D

The yield was 41g from the trans siberian. I vaped one nug pre cure and she is pretty potent for sure... I def don't regret growing her.

Well, my method for judging a great grow might be insane I dunno. I consider 1g/1watt to be sort of the A+. So in theory if you did an A+ grow with a 100 watt light, you could snag 3.5 oz or roughly 100g. That of course is pretty hard to obtain, and some ppl I think actually get better than 1g/1watt which blows my mind o_o So my light was actually 120 watts actual draw, and 3.5oz would be about .7g/watt which I fell quite short of x_x

I thought about it and I definitely did a lot to fuck the grow up... I topped the plant on accident, wasn't checking PH, light burn ten million... really rough childhood in coco...

Anyways I fucked it up a lot and so honestly I don't know why I thought it would yield all that great. It's just that I once got 1 oz off of a tiny little trans siberian in 2L full of perlite that I took even worse care of... Haha... I seriously think part of it was because I used fluorescents instead of LED.

So anyways, I am planning a next grow, but will have pics up of the nugs and the plant pre harvest in about a week. I have to leave town tomorrow and things are pretty hectic or I would have thrown the pics up tonight...

Thanks again man, I seriously couldn't have finished my grow without your help!

Thanks for the advise man ;D ! I dunno if I will do LED's again, every grow I have used them I kind of link to problems, but if I do I will check into some LED journals.

Lol I like your style "Don't ever quit anything man fk that" that's awesome hahaha.

I appreciate the encouragement, I am def gonna get started again soon.

Sorry about your plant hardships mate.. it sucksss when you invest in something and it goes south x_x

Thanks for stopping by!

final harvest pics of the AKR (just for lolz, was only 10g :|):

The Trans Siberian came in at 41g:

tsjar1.jpgtsjar2.jpg

Overall she was really fluffy... I haven't yet honestly grown a plant that had dense nugs lol :X

The smoke of both is OK, I would say somewhere in the middle for potency on both. Flavor really mild on both as well.

Thanks everyone for stopping by!

Thanks again to Grey Bear for saving my grow multiple times.

My next grow will probably have 2 autos (la divas), and 1 photo in the main room, planning on germing them today. Thanks again everyone for stopping by, and everyone who answered my questions and helped me out ;D AFN is awesome ;D

:Sharing One:

Hell yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If it makes you feel any better, my AKR which had been going for what I presume to be well over 90 days, weighed in at a measly 20g of the most gangly, crap-tastic looking buds, but with a great smell and a hint of purple. Definitely a high THC bud with much lower CBD than the Jack Herer I just grew.. It's been in the jar over a week now, and the smell is really coming out.. The smoke is good, but I know with a good cure, it will get better.. I think you did great!!!!! Just think though, that's 2oz you DON'T have to get off the local market!!!! Besides, you have the knowledge from the grow and the wisdom to make it better next time!! :)
