I love growing autos but to be honest if growing cannabis was legal I would probably go back to growing photos outside. Maybe if growing wasn't still socially acceptable but legal would grow autos before parents came to visit ha..ha.

I think if legal most autos would be grown in cold climates or indoors for people that live in apartments and cant grow outdoors

autos are like butter and margarine. butter will never say tastes as good as margarine. and photos will never say as strong as autos

edit: rethinking post. I would most likely only grow superautos to be able to grow large sativa strains in Midwest temperate latitudes... would probably be the most common use for auto when cannabis goes legal.

I would still grow both. I love throwing 3-4 different auto strains in my small indoor spot to provide variety to my personal stash. Outdoor, or green house, photos would be for production.

Don't sell auto potency short. With new auto strains testing at 18 - 22% THC they are right up there with some of the best photos in terms of their potency.

I'm really not concerning myself with legality. I wanna grow autos just because their fun, and new to me. I'll go back to photos one day, but so far autos are my favorite. Probably just a novelty thing for me really.. But their just so entertaining!

I'm with Muddy. Autos have allowed me to have multiple med strains available. It keeps from developing a tolerance to my photo meds, and enables an "up high" strain or two to counter my purlple kush, elephant gun, med. My next run will be 3 DP auto strains, to both see which I like and to add to the med cabinet options.

I'm with muddy and waximus I'd grow both. Succession planting from April under glass and moving out doors from some time in may (northern Europe)
Each sowing 1 week apart until august would provide a constant crop though out the summer months up until start of october by which time photos be needing to be chopped.
I also like to watch the buds form close up which is difficult with a 10 foot tree.

Well i would do the compromise..... Outdooors Big Kush trees and Indoors big Tents with Led and Autos. Best of both Worlds as i sure would run a Company if it is Legal over here ....but sadly its not

I would not change a thing and keep with the auto's. The potency is right on par with photo's in my mind. I just had a scary experience with too much DP Blueberry haha!

I really don't need all that much anymore since I just grow for myself. No need for huge trees in my backyard. Also, I don't know if it is because I grow exclusively in DWC or if the strains have all become "super auto's" but mine always grow way taller than what the breeder says they will. Especially in the heat of summer. My current white widow from Spliff Seeds is getting way too damn tall for her garden, even singed a couple leaves on the very top because she decided to grow a vertical spurt while I was at work...

In short, I feel that the auto plants today are so far removed from their Ruderalis cousin's that they are becoming just like regular plants. I also feel a huge weight has been lifted by not having to worry about light leaks and hermie issues ruining a whole crop's seeds

Cannabis is still such a high value crop, even where legal, that growing outside does not interest me.
Having 3-6 G's just sitting in the backyard waiting for the thieves to make a grab and dash does not interest me.
Nor does the idea of shooting & killing someone that succumbed to the idea of stealing from me.
So if I felt I could do it in such a way that it did not bring the threat of confrontation, I probably would.
But no way I would grow outdoors in an urban area.

I agree completely. I know just the neighbors that would rip me off too, and I live in the country!!

Also outdoors you don't have control of the climate. This could lead to insects or mold in the buds. Two things that make me wrinkle my nose :no:
