I just read an article about a light schedule called 12/1. (For Photos)

For the VEG cycle it's; 12 hours ON, 5.5 hours OFF, 1 hour ON, 5.5 hours OFF

For the FLOWERING cycle it's; Begin at 11 hours ON, 13 hours OFF for two weeks. Then drop the lighting period for 30 minutes, I.E. 10.5 hours ON, 13.5 OFF. Continue this 30 minute drop every two weeks until you reach 9 hours ON, 15 hours OFF. Finish the FLOWERING at this light cycle.

The article states that you need to break up the photosynthesis dark period with an hour of light to maintain VEG, and in doing so give the plants a massive darkness/growth period.

Any truth to this. I imagine this would be for photos, not autos.

link to the article?
do they give any evidence?
I have read about proven alternative lighting schedules for lettuce, but nothing documented relating to cannabis.

hmmm interesting. I'd like to see some documented grows using this technique. The one part i find interesting is the gradual reduction in the light cycle during late flowering, mimicking natural light cycles.

both methods have been linked to lower yields and hermie issues

few reports were ever finished ,,,, go figure

Salutations,

It is called the Gas Lantern Routine and as the name suggests it dates back to a time with no electricity...

Knowing this i suppose it will be easier to browse the web for details.

Interesting....I'd like to try it, but........cannot afford to waste a good grow at the moment. I do like the idea of gradually decreasing the lights in FLOWERING. The VEG schedule is a bit too much.

more light more bud , why do you think modern autos get so big

decreasing the light will ripen the plant faster , meaning it finishes sooner but lowers in yield

unfortunately most of whats seen online comes from the person/people who "think" it sounds good in their mind

most other stuff is people raving how it is working great and then POOF we stop hearing from them for some unknown reason

a friend and moderator from another site claimed not long ago he was using this method in veg , a lil while later he was complaining his grow went hermie ruining it entirely , i pm'd him asking if he thought maybe the gas lantern lighting method could be the cause , but he hasnt responded to me about it yet

but with that and other things ive seen posted about it over the last couple/few years i would not risk it and advise others to avoid it as well because it is my honest belief that this method is no good , and trust me id LOVE to save money on electricity

peace
