Hey guys I'm new to growing so I bought Vertigo and a DWC system which was probably stupid considering everyone says soil is more forgiving but whats done is done! I'm about a month into my grow and my Vertigo is about the size of a cigarette pack (sry no pics) the leaves are yellowing on the ends and my roots are white but a thick layer of slimy snot keeps building up on them. I have to change my water every three days just to keep my plant alive! I thought it was because I was using Vinegar instead of PH Down but now that I've read through this forum a bit it sounds more like Root Rot or a bacteria problem. All advice is welcome thanks.:dunno:

Aquashield? can u get that at walmart or must I order it?

negative, you must order it or get from hydro store. But it works really well.

Thanks, I will order some of that now. Do u happen to know how much to add to a 3gal tank?

I'm assuming this is a pretty basic problem?

Thanks man that answered a lot of questions I had. Hopefully the aquashield works, it will be here by next Thursday! :pighug:

Hi Nextstep, Light getting into your container and warm water temps will cause similar problems. Using a dark container ( like a black bucket) and keeping water temps between 65 and 70 degrees plus Aquashield should keep slime under control. I just finished a Vertigo grow using bubbleponics which is somewhat similar to DWC and I had zero problems and the smoke is great. Note, Vertigo has explosive growth and kind of outgrew my grow room but was able to add side lighting to finish her off. Add aquashield to every feeding and keep plenty of cal-mag on hand, they love it and do not overfeed as in too much nutes. I never exceeded 900 ppms and my plants averaged 35 inches in height. Please add pictures if you can, the folks here are very knowledgable but most like to see pictures. Good Luck.

I had a problem with what I believe was algae. I used SM-90. It is made from some citrus extract and smells great.

antiquties, thanks for the info! I'm sure its not the water temp, that stays a steady 70, and the 3gal bucket I use is all black plastic my problem is I have no idea of how much cal-mag or aquashield to add and I have a ziplock baggy of nutrient solution my friend gave me and he told me to add a 1/4tsp to every water change after that runs out I have no idea of what to buy nutrient wise!

Still waiting on the aquashield to get here and had to change my water out again because the roots started to slime up and the PH jumped to 8.0 But the good news is that my strong little Vertigo has grown a couple inches despite me lol
