Lighting Advantages to 24/0 light cycle for Auto's

In my experience autoflowers do best under 24 hours, but only if it is a good and stable strain.
I know that they are C3 plants and they produce energy only when the light is shining so theoretically you need to supply as much light as possible, but in practice there are many more factors like the electricity price, bulb/ballast life expectancy, heat signature and strain stability. All or non of them can influence growers decision for the best light cycle.

I run my T5s 24/0. My highly scientific reason for doing this is that I don't have to mess with timers or light leaks. I embrace my lazy streak.

Growing great so far.. Only thing I've noticed is they tend to need more food.. But not much. The plant can tell you if you know what to look for. Haven't had any heat probs yet either, T5's run actually cool, plus far less wattage for the amount of lumens they put out. I've noticed with autos 2 of the same seed will grow diffrent plants.

i believe they do crave more food under a 24/0 schedule. When you say that 2 auto seeds will produce 2 different phenotypes, this is usually due to the fact that most auto strains aren't "stable". In the not so distant future, i'm sure we will see more consistent phenos per strain.

With your experience lighting 24/0.. whats the average height you get? I'm sure they would stay shorter running 24/0 making the buds more compact and dense.

Sorry, i just saw this. Most of my plants stay shorter/more compact under the 24/0 schedule and i believe its because they dont have the dark period to stretch under. i also use #1 nursery pots which may help to keep the plants on the shorter side too. Average height depends on strain...my Sweet Mango's ranged from 10-12 inches to 18-20 inches across 10 of them.

i'm fine with the density of my buds but im not sure if running 24/0 has that much to do with it. Other factors like humidity, feeding program, light intensity, grow medium, strain etc. probably have more influence over tight nugs than light schedule. Sometimes i get super dense nugs (imo considering its a T5 light) and other times they are more on the fluffy side. i would love to see the same grower run a test grow with 2 or 3 lighting schedules but no other major variables...same lighting, feeding schedule, relative conditions and care. i would love to do it but i dont have the tents or the extra light that would be needed. Would be cool to see though

I do to
I have found that they don't stretch out.the plants get all bushy.
I have a small room and I don't have to tie them down

Since i went from 24 to 18/6,I have seen 30 to 40% increase during veg...I suggest 18/6....

I've did 24 during seedling stage for maybe a week maybe a lil over than switch to 18/6 great results but It was first time ever with autos

I run 20/4. I believe plants need a rest, but I feel autos only need little rest. I ran 24/0 in some of my previous grows, and I notice them looking a little happier.

I run 20/4 for veg then when I start the scrogging I go to 18/6. Just my preference. When I switched from 1t/5 to 2 T5 badass fixtures temps jumped 10degrees. So I like the extra 2 hrs to cool things down.
